What's the appeal of the NFL for you gentlemen? I'm not a fan so I'm curious what makes it an attraction

It’s one of the most athletic sports around combined with being one of the most technical.

Unfortunately you have to watch for a number of years to fully understand just how technical it is. A lot of newcomers, especially those that are used to the continuous nature of football, get put off before then.

We can but hope .
Kansas keep getting. Let off the hook time and time again .
Mahomes is. Also a freak and their defense has improved and expect Mahomes will win another 2 Superbowl s

He’s probably had his worst year in a long time, but has been fortunate they have had a strong defense and some incredible luck throughout the season.

That said he’ll probably play lights out in the play-offs when it matters and drag them to another title.

I enjoy it I must say

Don’t support a team, but enjoy watching it regardless.

It’s always struck me as being like chess with big fast pieces. Fascinating how literally every play is one side trying to be more clever than the other side in terms of what play to choose to get what they need.

I enjoy watching it, but **** me, they don't make it accessible.

Rules about who is allowed to go downfield, how many people you can have moving before the snap

Then you have commentary randomly sprinking in terms like shotgun, wildcat, bootleg, secondary etc without much of an explanation (which is fine, it's a skill issue on my part)

I've watched it for decades and I agree .
Illegal shifts, too many in motion ? and like you say some of the play names still baffle me .

The NFL has become overly technical in the opinion of a lot of American fans, yours truly included. As we like to say, the NFL is ruining a perfectly good game. The NFL began tinkering with the rules in the 1980s to encourage more passing, more offense, more scoring, etc. They were successful but that doesn't automatically translate to a better product.

As to the lexicon, the etymologies are diverse, and sometimes a mystery to Americans, too. The "wildcat" play, for example, is the direct snap to the running back lining up as the quarterback. It was first popularized by a college football team, the Kansas State Wildcats, such that it was subsquently named after them. Other names, like "shotgun," originated as arbitrary references as shorthand.

I hate to say this as a Packers fan for over 50 years I can only see the Lions winning this year.

Defo Eagles to go through but the other 3 could be interesting
I've seen the highlights of Steelers vs Ravens...Derrick Henry is a monster....Ran through the Steelers defense with ease....With Jackson playing well and linking with Andrews, Likely Sims, Bateman Ravens could be a decent punt.
