Looking forward to it, weirdly never been to Leicester away in 40yrs of supporting the hoops. Largest away support since Sheff Wed away?, and that was a day to remember
I’ll say true at least until the XI is announced. No midweek game either side, on a good run, against a team likely to rest a few who aren’t all that anyway, bizarrely large away following, not realistically going up or down. If we don’t have a bit of a go this year we never will. I’m 34 and have never seen us in a quarter-final. I may one day be 64 and still not have but I can dream.
I’m hoping true. The semi final and two finals in 82 are amongst my favourite Rs memories. I’m 64 in a couple of weeks and I think other than 82 we’ve only got to the quarters 3 times since I’ve been going to games (1972 start). We deserve better. In the olden days, after the earth cooled, there was no choice. Every team always gave the cup a go. Hardwired in.
The occasions were fabulous days out but the football we played was dire to say the least until we conceded in the Final replay after which Venables finally took the shackles off and on another day we would have won that. Gregory's vollied chip from Micklewhite's cross over Clemence from the edge of their penalty area was sublime and deserved to be goal of the decade. Perhaps in an AI future cross-bars will be programmed to reward such shots by sucking the ball in the right direction ie back of the net.
I was there in 1995 with my old mate Richard Thompson - remember him? Really thought we'd turn them over after leading them for 92 minutes at Loftus Road earlier in the season - Cantona equalised with the last touch of the game. Like the article with Marti on the QPR website - guess he's only ever known victory at the King Power after our 2-1 win in March. In Marti we trust. You R'ssssssssss!!!
They spend a fortune making pitches pristine but the walkways around the ground and inside the stadiums are often the reason matches are called off. Elf 'n safety overkill...
Bloke on LFW who lives close to the ground says it’s fine in the city. Quite a lot of flooding and the like in rural Leics.
imo, we should play our full strength team that we'd be choosing if it was a league game. Our next fixture is the following Saturday so there's no reason to protect players' fitness. In fact, it'll keep them fit and ready.
