One simply hopes that Ange accepts that some tweaking is required on both scenarios and that some adaptations are required for certain opponents AND to utilise players strengths but also recognise that he needs to be mindful not to over exert our players they will lead to further injuries.
Well that was a good night, thought we played really well all over the park. Keeper was superb, he bought a calmness to our defence not seen all season. Spence as others have said why has he played so little football superb, Salah didn't get a sniff! I have run out of superlatives for Archie, just so good and Bissouma possibly the best game he has had in a Spurs shirt, though I must say that I when i see him live he always seems better than I watch him on the TV. And then there is Bergvall what a game he had, yes we thought he was getting a 2nd yellow, but the ref let him off (ref was poor throughout), and took his goal superbly. Kule was dead on his feet, Son and Johnson on the periphery too much. I know that Arteta was rightly criticised about his ball comments, but both teams last night over hit a lot of through balls, we wasted a number of good opportunities because we got the pass to release the the forward wrong.
I've learned my lesson on that front , tune into the game at KO , make a cuppa or get a drink at HT and tune out at FT
To be fair you could see the different approach in the Man utd game but 2 brain farts from the keeper put a totally different complexion, knocked the confidence of the team and fed the bullshit agenda of the media
I normally do, but I had the cats sitting on me as they wanted feeding and I couldn't get to the remote in time. Eventually the wife came to my rescue, although she has always had a thing about Jamie Rednapp. We compromised on muting.....
We're both hoping for eachother but I think it will still be arsenal vs Liverpool. If we lose a 7th final in a row to Spurs I will probably hide on here though.
Yep, I can already taste what will no doubt be weeks of indignation over the goal. A very quick review will see a new, heavier ball released and we will get two men sent off in the opening 10 minutes of the return game. Bentancur will also be banned for taking too long to leave the pitch and their agenda will be complete. I expect nothing less....
I have concluded our only chance is if you guys beat Liverpool, but either way it's immaterial if we lose. The 1.5 years I've camped out on here will either make or break me.
He's had his critics on here so can I say that apart from one wobbly moment failing to deal with a dangerous cross on his weaker left, Dragusin was utterly superb. Game saving clearance off the line was the icing on the cake. Goes to show if we aren't playing kamikaze defence and keep things sensible and disciplined positionally, he's a very good defender.
From time to time the officials need to be reminded about the consequences of giving decisions against the mighty Pool. I had a go on the TalkShite bingo this morning and thought I would hear about the 'controversy' over the non sending off within five minutes. It took two. I won't hold my breath while I wait them to discuss the dirty play that van dijk often engages in and particularly his disgusting assault on Solanke.
Agreed, he's simply one of the "old school" and at times does have a few issues playing Ange Ball but last night he was very good. Of course we have to remember The 'Pool were simply very average, so we did get lucky with that performance....
Pool were definitely 'off' last night, but Dragusin was certainly more assured - probably because he is starting to get used to playing alongside Gray, who exudes class and confidence. However, I also think the CB's got a lot more cover from the FB's - especially with Spence pocketing Salah - and the MF. The jury is still out for me as to whether he will ever be more than a 2nd or even 3rd choice RCB playing this style, but credit where credit is due and he saved us last night, no doubt!
He’s what I’d call a proper defender, nothing fancy but will “John Smith” the **** out of anything thrown his way. Was monstrous at the Euros for Romania doing that. Probably the closest player we’ve had in the recent era to a Michael Dawson albeit Daws had better leadership qualities. His future here will depend on if the system tweaks to his strengths for when he plays. I think he can be an excellent backup to Romero and van de Ven if we don’t play a kamikaze high line when he’s on the pitch, frankly I don’t think we need to play it at all even if he’s not on the pitch. Porro and Spence - As Tilly’s Owner pointed out - scrapped the inverted ****e too, I think that makes so much of a positive difference. Can’t stand it when they’re running into the number ten positions and leaving the flanks so exposed. Maybe I’m just a bit old school but defenders being defenders and not make shift midfielders or even attackers seems to work far more sensibly…and we showed last night you can still be an attacking side whilst remaining sensible at the back.
I can’t stand it. Haven’t watched pre or post match stuff for years now. Everything is repetitive and robotic with all these pundits. Even most players give standard interviews too, it’ll either be “yeah it’s not about me it’s about the team” or “we have to work hard to bounce back”.
