An iffy run of results, but I'm not getting dragged into the "wheels have fallen off, we're all doomed" mentality. Second leg to come, 6 points clear at the top of the PL with a game in hand and virtually guaranteed qualified for the CL knockouts. Everything to play for.
Is that the official rationalisation? If so, it's typical of them just making it up as they go along in an effort to show they never get it wrong.
I don’t know how they keep coming up with these bizarre excuses they just need to be honest and say the ref got it wrong.
My guess pgmol told the media to keep quiet about it like the Diaz offside incident. It’s clear they didn’t want the ref to make an on field announcement on a big decision like that. Obvious flaw with the system of making announcements they will protect there mates
It's a very sane rational, if the ref didn't see it as a yellow would you be happy if he stopped an attack just to bring it back for a free kick?
? If it's a challenge worthy of a yellow then the card is given after the counter-attack is finished. If the ref doesn't see it as a yellow then that is the reason for it not being given, and the counter attack excuse is unnecessary.
That fits in with what i wrote, if he didn't see it as a yellow then he allowed the attack to continue [/QUOTE]
No, because the question is why didn't he give a second yellow, not why didn't he stop the game. The excuse given is that it wasn't a yellow because it didn't stop the attack, not because it wasn't worthy of one. I'm disinclined to argue this any further - if you can't see the difference then I don't know how to make it any clearer.
The first foul was a yellow and a card was given. The foul we are discussing was nothing more than a free kick and certainly not card worthy so decision to allow attack to continue was right.
Resting players is now pivotal imo. Our midfield looks tired and leggy and Salah is at the time of the year when his legs realise his age. We will be fine if they all get proper rests before Forest.
Salah has looked worn out in the past two games. Maybe this is why the club do not want to pay him 400k a week for three years if they only get half a season from him and he will get older not younger
We still need to sign a 6 unless Slot is willing to include Endo in his regular midfield rotation. We missed Szoboszlai yesterday Spurs are the perfect opposition for him even despite the fact that they played well yesterday. I'm not entirely sure on what Slot's thought process is on Elliott At the start of the season he seemed to be in genuine contention to fight Szoboszlai for a starting spot, then he got his injury, and he hasn't had many minutes since coming back. He doesn't seem prepared to put him in regular rotation yet.
I agree that certain players were looking tired out. A month ago gravenberch looked a Rolls Royce in midfield, turning and just gliding seay on the ball. Yesterday he tried a few time and just looked stuck in mud even though he got past the man. Macallister has now hit the wall as expected after 8 days rest all summer. He gave his all this week v utd. Jones was just diabolical in both games. The level of effort to do anything was missing
