We only have to wait another couple of weeks before Trump takes over control of the U.S.A. and the rest of the world needs to fasten their individual seatbelts to endure the ride. He clearly has his sights firmly directed at control of anything and everything he decides is his or belongs to the U.S., and Canada has to be aware that the man is unhinged to say the least and will do anything his evil heart dictates. During his last term he came to Canada for a G8 meeting and arrived well late and whilst he was here he insulted every other leader with innuendos and lies and then decided to leave early. The reasons for that totally undiplomatic behaviour was just because everything has to be about him and he has a hissy fit if that is not the case. When you look at some of the idiots he has decided to make a part of his government, despite the fact that none of them have been elected by the people for anything, and one of the clear winners in this rush to fall at the feet of the self-appointed god of America is Elon Musk who is about as unfit for duty as Trump. Countries across the globe could be affected by policies introduced by Trump and his cohorts and Canada is close to the top of that list despite that the 2 countries have lived in peace for over 200 years and have the longest unmanned lengths of border that have never been an issue in all that time. The Panama Canal is high on his agenda along with Greenland and his threats of territorial ambitions won't stop there because he has serious intent to change the American Constitution to keep him in power as long as possible, much like Putin and others of the same persuasion. Our world is in deep poop right now and the sides are lining up to see who leads the way into the future which looks like it may be confrontational like nothing we remember. Adding Trump to the list of people you don't want running your country has now entered the U.S.A. into the realm of a rogue state that nobody can ever trust or if they do then it is at their own peril. Beware of what you thought you wished.
I'm not so well versed like you Inver in all this. However a mad bully like Putin or China requires an equal and opposite 'push back'. In Trump they have more than met their match. He's also going to end the Ukraine war in no time knocking sense into all parties. This war has to stop. Biden was a poor president I will agree and the attempt to install Harris as the next guru failed dismally. The one thing you have to remember is that nearly all Americans haven't got a clue where and what Canada is yet alone Greenland and Ukraine, so everything Trump spouts from his evil mouth is therefore deemed to be true and on his radar. You have to realize that world geography doesn't get much attention in their schools because they. like Trump, only focus on what is 100% American and to hell with the rest of the world. They continue to call any team that wins the championship of any primarily American sport "World Champions" and fail to admit any teams other than their own. After travelling around the world the most obnoxious fellow travellers are generally from the U.S.A. and their voices can be heard from miles away and if they are Trump supporters then they are even worse. Canadian Armed Forces would be dealt with in pretty quick order if Trump carries out his threats and he is dying to get his hands on Canadian resources and all of the land including our very close neighbour in Greenland. The area of the Arctic is a powder keg as it allows both Russia and China to invade North America as it only has basic defence systems placed by Canada and the U.S. and Trump has threatened us by not giving us military aid if any invasion took place. On a side note Trump has criticized the U.K. for failure to act on the grooming issues in places like Rotherham and many other cities but you will never hear him criticize the mass gun killings happening on an almost daily basis in the U.S. and he is in favour of handing out as many weapons as is possible to out of control individuals. One day those guns in the hands of semi-militia groups will come back to bite and I firmly believe that if Kamala Harris had won the election those weapons would have been used in the streets and towns of America in some kind of Civil War that would have been really ugly and so close to our border. The Republican Party is still living in the Civil War days and continue to want the Democrats eliminated from view. Donald Trump may be brash and say things that a lot of people want to hear but he is a clear and present danger not just to U.S. democracy but also world stability. Time alone will tell the story and goodness knows what his intentions are for Ukraine and other hot spots around the globe. A troubled universe awaits us this year and the Donald will play a major and as yet unknown part in where our world goes from here and at times like this I am so glad that I lived in the era that I did as I turn 82 in March, but I have concerns as to what kind of life my grandkids may be forced to endure? Carry on and mind the Trump and his book called Mein Trumpf. This is a late add-on as it is good to see the backlash Trump is getting from around the world on all of his crazy ideas about taking other lands and renaming geographical locations but quite frankly he just will never get why he is one of the most hated politicians, and he likes it that way because he wants people to be afraid of him.
It seems to me that a lot of Americans want 1 Lower taxes and more money in their pockets 2 An end to the woke culture finally and all the progressive nonsense 3 Tax dollars in the billions not being wasted on a war on another continent that they have no interest in 4 Stopping the hoards of illegal immigrants crossing the southern border And I believe Trump will deliver on all of the above, and much more besides
I suspect that a lot of you over there would also,like some of the same things to happen as it seems the whole world has gone to pot. Here in Canada now that Trudeau has finally been sussed out unfortunately his likely successor is somewhat in the Trump mould and even though he has a brain (of sorts) he is totally disliked by many and they fear that even with his rhetoric pleasing some he is not likely to do a good job. Things are likely to get worse not just here but across the civilized world - oh well there it is I suppose.
I think the Yanks need to remember their history (but they were probably never taught), about a famous leader who was VOTED into power under a democratic process, promising to fix his country’s problems (and did - for a while), was definitely anti-Woke, but promptly outlawed and purged the opposition, invaded his neighbours, ‘fixed’ undesirables using death camps and ultimately caused WW2.

On a slightly more positive note I hope Trump realizes that the U.S. will need a lot of Canadian lumber to rebuild Los Angeles so if he's not careful with his loud mouth we may recall all of the firefighters that we sent to help extinguish the flames. Trump is also a hater of all things Californian and he detests the governor because of his politics and he will waffle on all help for their devastated citizens. Americans are getting exactly what they voted for and already the rumblings have started due to the people he alone has decided to put on his so-called team, such as Musk. The U.S.A, is anything but united and Trump will only do things for the Republican states and everything else that could line his own pocket. The international community is starting to wake up to the clear and present danger he poses to everyone and everywhere because he likes to threaten people and many who have crossed him in the past should move elsewhere as soon as possible to avoid his evil intents and retribution. All those nice comments made by some obscure German back in the 1930's are really being said again, but this time by someone who has nuclear weapons and very bad intentions, no matter who you are.
