From what rumours I've heard he's regretting going there, feels as though he's been scapegoated at times and his confidence is very low.
I like the lad so don't feel any animosity towards him and unlike some players I get no pleasure seeing he has struggled since leaving. That said going to a club who are singing several players for your position is always going to be a risk. Almost like the manager is not quite sure what players or style he wants for the season?
It was said at the time by a few that everything at SAFC was right for Jack and although he is ready to try, has earned it and we wish him all the best he might go elsewhere and struggle as he won't have the backing and love of the fans he has now and he won't be the main man and a huge part of the tactics (something he seemed to thrive on). I'll say what I said about him a few times he looked all fart no ****e until the play offs imo. But he was given time, he won't get that in the prem!
Worst part about Clarke not having a great time at Ipswich is that the sell on % we have probably won't amount to much.
Totally, and it's why he apparently feels scapegoated. Not being used where he's best but also not getting more chance to try to adapt to how they want to play him. Add in he was one of the "big" signings in terms of profile, because he's not lived up to expectations he's took some grief about his form.
Hypothetical question. If they go down and we come up, and we buy him off them for £20m. Do we still get our sell on percentage as a refund?
Mixed feelings you'd imagine, nice to get the increased wage but it looks like it'll be just for the length of the contract and his career will be spent in the championship. Not nice for anybody in the workplace to feel excluded/like they're not good enough. Don't blame him at all for backing himself and taking the opportunity but I bet he's having a few regrets.
The saltiness on twitter from fans of other clubs saying things like he’s injury prone because he got injured once.
tbf his player wanted a premier league move and he got him a premier league move. I bare no grudge to either Clarke or Harte.
Not quite Europe, but I still think its bonkers how we got Lee Clark. Rivalry aside he was still part of a first team squad which had just finished runners up in the premier league and just after signing for us in the Championship he was called up to the England squad. He could have comfortably joined a premier league team and apparently took Reidy a few bottles of champagne and a few hours of scouse charm to convince him to come to us.
