United showed how to play against Liverpool the other night ... pains me to say it - but you have a real opportunity to win a trophy this season - because you have a potent goal threat in Isak, Gordon, Murphy, Barnes and Wilson (even Jolinton) a combative but also technically gifted midfield and a very solid defence ... If you get to the final against Pool, Howe will likely target TAA with Gordon and Barnes, and rightly so ... defensively he is their achilles heel ... however good he is going forward - also think Murphy will give Robertson problems too...
I'll accept any trophy of any variety at this stage. I'm in my 40's now and all I've seen is my team finish 2nd in the league a few times, 3rd a few times and celebrate 4th too. Oh and 3 or 4 losing cup finals. I used to laugh at the fact that we actually brought the Inter-toto cup out in front of the fans (in the hands of Scott Parker) but that was 20 years ago and feels less embarassing with each year we get nothing. There's only so many times you can watch Portsmouth, Swansea, Blackburn, Birmingham win trophies before you begin to think it may actually never happen in your lifetime.
We battered Liverpool in the first half at St James. It ended up 3-3 and we could easily have lost but we should have been 2-3 goals ahead by half-time. We'd have a chance and I feel like it could be a great game but realistically we'd lose. No chance Slot wouldn't play his full strength team as he'd be playing his first cup final with Liverpool, it would be a big priority in the way it may not be in following seasons. In the same way Tottenham would prefer us in the final we'd also prefer them, that'd be a proper 50-50 match and i suspect great for neutrals. Make no mistake if the final ends up Liverpool-Arsenal then that has 0-0 and penalties written all over it, it's the worst outcome for a neutral of the 4 options.
Arsenal dont do the league cup....their record in it is terrible, considering the size of the club they are, I think they have only won it twice! Liverpool on the other hand, live for the league cup and have won it 10 times, more than anyone else. I would love a Newcastle Spurs final, but only on the proviso that Newcastle win, because watching Tottenham win anything is vomit inducing (luckily it hardly ever happens). But I cant see past a Newcastle Liverpool final and a Liverpool win.
It seems Liverpool have won the prem already despite it being just half way through the fixtures and have also won the league cup despite not even playing the semi final yet? Is there no trophy this team can't win without even playing for it?
At this stage, if we get past Arsenal, it's just deciding who we'd prefer to lose to in the Final. I don't mind hugely but probably lean towards Tottenham
It's immaterial really apart from the fact I've been camped out on the Spurs board for a year and a half.
Bad news for you guys is that (provided you win the second leg) I'll be tipping you to win the final ...
I'd rather get beat by Liverpool in the final, none of the Liverpool fans will give a **** and it'll be sharp forgotten. If we get beat by Tottenham @Spurlock will unbearable.
Oh Come on, Spurly is never unbearable. He is the best of them. He is too cool to go all Fosse. Its the rest of them that would be unbearable.
No cos Munson is in their line of fire, so for us Munson will act like a sponge, he will absorb almost all the abuse. Spurly on the other hand has it all in his backpocket, he remembers how unbearable we were about the takeover.
Moi? ... I'm way too humble and modest to mention triumphs and trophies ... ... more than a couple of times a day....
