Looks like it was his last game for us tonight. Looked very sad at the end of the game. Pulled off a couple of good saves tonight, and in the last few games.

Pope's injured and Dubs is playing really well right now, why would we let him go at this point, especially as his contact is up in the summer anyway?

 

While I agree I do think he's off by the looks.

 

Why would we want to lose a good keeper when we on the verge of getting to the final? Doesn't make sense.

 

It doesn’t, but I’ve read £8m to a Saudi club, so it makes financial sense for us.

Howe has said post match that he wants Dubravka to stay for the remainder of the season and ideally that he wants him to sign a new contract. Said he'll be talking to Mitchell about it this evening.

 

Eddies done so much right recently but clinging on to players until they’re worthless isn’t a great plan. That said, Dubs leaving to put Odysseas in nets doesn’t sound like a great plan either.

He's kept 4 clean sheets in the last 5 games iirc, huge mistake if we let him leave in January regardless of whether Trafford comes in or not. He deserves the shirt for the remainder of the season for me as well as (hopefully) a cup final start to make up for him missing out 2 years ago.

 

Now how many actually saves has he had to make? I recall about 2 or so in all those games.

 

It's more about Dubravka owning the box, making comfortable catches from crosses and corners etc, something Pope has looked shaky on recently.

 

We’d be better off selling pope.

 

If he does go we better have a suitable replacement lined up. Otherwise this just doesn't make sense.
The defence has been immense and we cant afford to weaken it. I do have faith in Pope - his shot stopping is excellent, though I'm not sure if he's totally over his shoulder injury and if he can be the same.

 

Deal agreed in principle apparently, hopefully we can keep him til 1 Feb.

 

Seem to remember people crying on here that we hadn't offloaded him over the Summer as he was surplus to requirements.
