Kind of goes against that talk that managers continue getting paid by the club that sacked them until they get a new job/their contract would’ve been up.

I always thought that sounded like bollocks. Much more likely they get a lump sum (or a lump sum paid in installments regardless of if they get another job or not before the last installment was paid)

Potter taking a potential 6 month job and forfeiting 2.5 years of his Chelsea deal in doing so doesn’t seem right

I highly doubt it. Teams like West Ham/Everton were always likely to go for him when they changed manager. He’d have to fail there to then fall to clubs at our level, whether we would even want him if he did fail is another matter

Nothing on BBC site, but they are usually about 20 minutes behind on all their football reports.

I used to work in a company where we handled negotiation, representation and contractual legalities for athletes, coaches etc. The standard procedure of an EFL/PL contract is generally that upon severance you receive a lump sum payment, then you are entitled to continue receiving the agreed salary for 12 months (in the event that you remain unemployed during this period) and then after 12 months, the payments stop. I think a lot of the reporting about people having huge contracts, costing a fortune to pay off and being on the payroll for years after their sacking is largely nonsense but perhaps in some instances it is negotiated differently by the parties, especially when it's a top club and a very high profile manager

Wolves fans still can't work out that Gibbs-White thrives on getting booed.

I can see why they didn't give that. Fair enough to stick with on field decision. Arm was in a natural position.

I thought he was far enough from the cross when it hit him. The handball rules are ridiculous now. They should go back to the old days. At least there would be no grey area.

This whole leaving it with the on the field decision thing is bollocks though, because referees are regularly just leaving it to VAR if they're not sure. I've seen that given as handball many, many times, I've seen much less than that given as handball. And I'm absolutely certain that it would have been given as handball were it against us.

Can't see the Scousers loving the Muskrat buying them no matter how rich he is.
    From the Beeb...

"Liverpool's owners Fenway Sports Group have not received any approaches for the club after Elon Musk's father Errol said his son was interested in buying the Reds."

And that is the key. The VAR “get out of jail card” has skewed everything up. Ref’s bottle it now, knowing if the FU, VAR can take the crap. Awful development of the game’s officiating.

Really interested to see how he gets on.

Was his time at Brighton a flash in the pan?

It feels like it could be a really good appointment for West Ham.

Yeah it’s going to be interesting for sure. And probably telling. I think there’s a good, but not great, manager in there. A lot of my Brighton pals are a bit revisionist about his time there - think he was dull and uninspiring. I’d settle for dull and competent right now though…
