It's beginning to **** me off already that we don't seem to be trying to sort out a goal scorer and/or a keeper.

This is only me, but with Jason Steele set to go to Southampton as second choice keeper, I'd bring Alex McCarthy in, until the end of the season.

I’d be pretty depressed with the state of things if Meslier were to face 2-3 meaningful shots in the cup game

Something strange with this one, signed for the Spanish team on a 4yr contract they loan him out to Southampton who then sign him on a 4yr contract and then they loan him out again.

I’d still not swap our wingers for him, yes he’ll strengthen Sheff U but he’d struggle for game time with our squad

I get that for our sake, the clubs sake and even Meslier's sake, we need to bring someone in to at least challenge him, if not just replace him, but I do wonder why people are suggesting McCarthy.

I've looked at 4 possible keepers who could be potential loans from the Premier League.

Alex McCarthy (Southampton - 93 appearances in last 6 seasons)) , Daniel Bentley (Wolves - 140 appearances in last 6 seasons)), Vlachodimos (Newcastle - 123 appearances in last 6 seasons) and Gavin Bazuna (Southampton - 146 appearances in last 6 seasons). The last 3 have yet to make an appearance this season, Wolves having selected 2 different keepers, with Newcastle and Southampton, having selected 3 different keepers, so I would think the potential for one of those 3 to go out on loan is probably higher, than a keeper who has made 4 appearances so far this season in the Premier League

Over the past 6 seasons, none of those keepers has a higher % of shots saved than Meslier (average 69.15%). McCarthy has the lowest (average 61.15%) with Bentley averaging 65.22, Bazuna averaging 66.8% and Vlachodimas averaging 67.61% of shots saved (although 4 of those seasons were playing for Benfica in Portgual). McCarthy is the only one of those 4 who on a season to season comparison has never once had a higher save percentage than Mes. Bentley has bettered Mes in 2 seasons, Vlachidomos has bettered Mes in 4 seasons (all in the Portugal League) and Bazuna has bettered Mes in 2 seasons

Now whilst I know most of you don't like xG and xGA, I do think it is only fair to mention before Milky comes along and asks the question :emoticon-0105-wink:, Mes has the worse average of actual goals against compared to expected goal against averaging -7 over those 6 seasons. McCarthy averages -3.5, Bentley and Bazuna average -1, whilst Vlachodimos has a +1 , thus he has conceded less goals than stats suggest he should have.

We need a replacement for Mes, I just think there are potentially better options than McCarthy, just on pure numbers. Have no idea what any of those 4 are like with playing with the ball at their feet etc, so could quite easily mean none of them are suitable for the style of play that Farke prefers

You can't judge a Goalkeeper off Pens alone Every keeper has a stinker now and again and coz he stank at Pens in that game it's a bit unfair to cast doubts on his Goalkeeping abilities. Is Mes any better at Pens? not in a million miles. Is Darlow any better than Mes? god only knows. Personally I haven't seen enough of him seen him in the Wales shirt and he did nothing wrong even got Man of the match. but somehow he already is marked from alot of Fans "not aimed at you Elland" at not being good enough when we haven't even seen him playing a run of games again which is a tad unfair. Some players are beat before they start. We carry Piroe nearly every game but he comes up with a goal now and again so he doesn't get the unfair treatment as scoring gives fans that buzz. but lets be honest he should be scoring from the amount of chances we create infact he should be scoring more as well as a few others. Darlow should get a run but he won't. Farke is a stubborn bugga.

Rumours are bound to be gathering pace but one that was going around before the weekend but is gathering more pace now. Farke won't play Ramizani or Schmidt because he didn't want the club to sign them, Ramizani was played out of necessity earlier in the season. But here's a biggie, again this is before the Hull game, the hierarchy have told Farke we need a new keeper and had done a deal with a PL club for a loan until the end of the season, Farke point blank refused him and as said he wouldn't select him if he came, it's causing ripples of discontent between the owners and the manager.

I shudder to think how bad Darlow must be if he can’t get in given the current form of Mes.

And to be really fair, you would hope Darlow wouldn’t be facing 8 penalties in most games either :emoticon-0148-yes:

Wow - If any truth to it, I’m not sure how I feel about it.

The last thing we want is going back to the days of Cellino, where the owners can have a say in team selection. At the same time not picking a players because your director of football signed him is pretty childish

I’m hoping it’s not true about turning down a keeper as that’s pure madness, unless it was the Ipswich guy Muric, he’s absolutely dire.

Any hint to any truth and Farke could be on slippery ground, a cup exit shock and a league defeat away from being replaced before the board bring in some fresh faces for a new guy maybe

Yes, started one game since he came back from injury, Derby away, when Solomon was supposedly carrying a knock, even though he did come on to replace him.

So does that suggest that he has or hasn’t been frozen out by Farke? He was in good form before his injury.

I've no idea, just posting what I've heard, was probably between him and Tanaka for best player so far this season before his injury, but he's only had one start since returning from injury.
