"When growing up in the slums of Guinea Bissau I just loved following the lads, the prowess of Lee Cattermole, the heading ability of John O'Shea and the finishing skills of Jozy Altidore, Haway the lads! Only for them will I take a 90% pay cut and take £20,000 a week."
Enzo Le Fee's transfer to Real Betis falls through The player has grown tired of waiting for the Andalusians when they had already agreed everything with Roma It seems that the footballer will be a new Sunderland player
Hard to get excited about foreign players I've never heard of...but willing to give it a try if this comes off.
Aye the account he tagged had a article about le fee not waiting any longer and a deal with betis falling through but nothing about us. Engagement bait i think
won’t begrudge anyone who moves upwards and Hume is an example of the success of our model. you have to pull people’s eyes out in January and I don’t think we’re in a position in regards to succession planning at right back.
I hope we don't sell any of our big hitters this window, not in a winter window when we are chasing the auto's
Think I love the current squad so much that no additions linked are exciting me, don’t want to see these lads out the team even though I know we need help, strange position to be in
Derby County appear to be on the verge of securing a major transfer coup, with Aston Villa starlet Louie Barry poised to join the Rams on loan. Reporter Alan Nixon revealed on his Patreon that the 21-year-old forward is set to choose Derby over a host of Championship rivals, including Leeds United and Sunderland, following a stellar loan spell at Stockport County. https://therealefl.co.uk/2025/01/06...WLqEElc5EEaefqSUwM_aem_GYJI8VpZn2w26-NrbmTMUw
BBC already nothinged palace going for jobe likely this is nothing too. It’s just the transfer window
Its nice to have players good enough that journalists want to make stories about clubs above us being interested in them. Never used to happen.
Would normally post this sort of stuff in the data thread but it's the transfer window so you're getting it here Been looking at Enzo Le Fee, in particular his breakout 22/23 season at Lorient under RLB. This season would ultimately earn him a big money move to Rennes and it's pretty easy to see why. RLB used Le Fee in a number of different roles. He played as a 10 in a 4-2-3-1, as a split 10 in a 3-4-2-1, on the left and right side of a midfield 3 and as part of the double pivot in the 4-2-3-1. I think this shows he would definitely get plenty of minutes here as he can comfortably play a lot of roles. In my opinion, he'd play the Rigg position here. All of the below graphs are looking at Ligue 1 central midfielders (I excluded 10s and holding midfielders) in the 22/23 season who played 10 or more 90s. Le Fee is the red dot in every graph. Firstly, his ball progression numbers are excellent, in particular his carrying. This is something we lack in central areas, Jobe is pretty good at it but his starting positions are much deeper than Le Fee would be. He also is an extremely creative player. The below graphs shows he makes around 2 passes per game that lead to a shot with an xAG of around 0.20 per game. We desperately need creativity and he would provide it. He also takes a fair amount of shots. Lastly, because he is a midfielder he needs to be good at the defensive side of the game. Below is a graph that shows the amount of tackles he attempts and completes and then another showing where he makes his tackles. He's a very busy midfielder and is no slouch defensively. I personally think he has no business playing 2nd tier football and if signing him is a possibility then we should be all over it. I'm not concerned about the numbers we'd have in the midfield area as all the teams around us have 6/7 quality players for 3 places in their teams, we currently have 3/4 because of fitness issues. The creativity he'd bring to the side could be the difference between top 2 and being in a battle to make the playoffs.
Lets play devils advocate for a minute. Le Fee comes in on loan. He plays the Rigg position a lot and as a result Rigg becomes an impact player. We miss out on promotion, dont sign Le Fee. Either Riggs development has slowed, or his agent gets in his ear about a move elsewhere. We are worse off start of next season? The problem with loans like this proposed one is they are predicated on a short term gain. In this instance a potentially better chance at promotion. The medium to longer term impacts can be more telling if we dont get promotion. Loans have to be really carefully used imo. Particularly in Jan.
