Can honestly say I think it's for the best. I wish Bonner all the best for the future and if it's any consolation I've known far worse managers, but it's a results business he knows that, not a character competition otherwise he'd win hands down, nice guy but the lads let him down and the selections were a bit suss. All the best for the future guv.
I'd happily welcome Neil Harris back in some capacity. Not sure if the fans would agree with me though?
Coleman is a very interesting choice. Managed over 1200 games and knows this level inside and out. Got the best out of Jack Nolan at Accrington and has also managed Josh Andrews. Certainly won't take any rubbish from the current crop but certainly feels like another short term decision. Can't expect him to be here long term. As for Bonner I'm disappointed it didn't work out for him. He spoke incredibly well, and it's yet another manager this group of players has got through. The results don't lie however, we have the worst points return of any L2 side since the start of October and 3 wins in 16 games just simply isn't good enough with our budget.
Going to be an interesting run in for the second half of the season, quite looking forward to it now, I like a guy that takes no nonsense, and if the players already know him, it means he knows how to deal with them. Good luck to him.
Wasn't it lucky that Coleman was out walking his dog in Gillingham when Bonner got sacked ..... I'm not saying that Bonner didn't deserve his P45 - but - the circumstances were a bit 'fishy'...... Scally would still be dithering over a new manager at Easter.
It was my first thought, that Coleman was a bit quick after Bonner. Doubt Brad and Shannon would have known who he was, so someone must have pointed them in that direction, unless they didn't do the recruiting, I don't know if they were in the UK or not, so hard to guess. Not knocking it btw, just saying.
I know Gills have been looking for a northern scout. Wondering if Coleman has been approached for that position then with Bonner performances getting worse they decided on a new manager instead
