We could do with an Arsenal yoot player on loan wanting to get minutes & scoring goals , surely Ben knows the academy forward prospects
Three ex players likely on the move, but no cash for us it seems. Godfrey to binners, loan, Aarons to Lille, others interested, permanent, Omobimadele to Leeds, loan made permanent on certain conditions. Edit:- none of the three have really featured for their club this season. Grass? Greener?
Godfrey has been sold on already, so even though this is a loan I don't think there's any chance of further profit from him. The other two I guess we'll have to see what the deal is, but seems unlikely that they'll sell for more than we were paid for them, so probably limited potential for sell-on benefits. Seeing how they've all failed to kick on, and the club has done a relatively decent job in sourcing replacements...it does make you wonder about selling Sainz in January. Heavily outperforming his "expected goals" this season and with only 18 months left on his contract, is his potential sale price only going to drop from here as his contract runs down and his goalscoring "regresses to the mean"?
It seems that Sainz has been rumbled and has been made fairly unproductive as far as goals go. I suspect that his value may well have been reduced as a result.
If by "rumbled" you mean roughed up, I agree with you. Refs should know when a player is being targeted and stop it early.
'Rumbled' also suggests that other teams have identified the patterns of his play and taken measures against them. It's noticeable that Sainz has been given a freer role in recent games with movement all across the front and that may be JHT's way to counter the double teaming. If Sainz is suspended it will be up to Hernandez or Dobbin to take over the role. It appears that Dobbin is a good value replacement for Fassnacht: "At the very least, Dobbin is not too significant in terms of outlay, despite that big money switch to Villa from Everton recently. Per Capology, Dobbin earns £416,000 per year as his estimated gross salary or £8,000 gross per week, excluding bonuses." (Dobbin is with us for 22 weeks which at £8000/wk equals £176,000. Not bad.) https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/lewis-dobbin-weekly-wage-aston-villa-west-brom-norwich-city-loan/
The latest on Matej Jurasek via the Pinkun: "Reputable Czech media site iSport are reporting that Norwich will up their efforts to add Jurasek to their squad this week and are planning an opening offer of €6million to sign the 21-year-old on a permanent basis. They add that Slavia are holding out for a fee of €8m, but are open to selling Jurasek in this window after he fell out of favour. He has played just seven times this season. It's understood City remain in talks with Jurasek's camp over a potential switch, but the youngster signed a new contract in July 2023 and there is still work to do on agreeing a financial package to bring him to Norfolk. Jurasek is yet to travel to Norfolk, with Norwich waiting for official permission from Slavia for that to happen, which can only happen when the outline of a deal has been struck. That is yet to be the case. There is thought to be wider interest in Jurasek from overseas, meaning City will need to beat competition to his signature."
Current Rumours: OUT Barnes (ST) - Burnley - Free ✅ Fassnacht (RW) - Young Boys - Free ✅ Gordon (RW) - End loan Gunn (GK) - 6months left on his contract Nunez (CM) - £7.2m bid rejected from Everton *NEW* - Hanley (CB) - Blackburn/Sheffield Utd interested IN Dobbin (LW/RW/ST) - Loan ✅ Jurasek (RW) 21 years old - Salvia Prague Bindon (CB) - 19 years old - Reading Selvik (GK) - 28 years old - 6months left on contract *NEW* - Charlie Savage (DM) - Reading
Great list Suffolk. Jurasek seems the most likely next move. The Savage link is interesting, but looks a bit speculative at this point. https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/s...ty-transfer-battle-reading-fc-charlie-savage/
Charlie Savage son of Robbie, BBC 5Live soccer pundit. Just noticed RER link, so this is a repeat. Also, Gunn (GK) is listed as out, but where to?
Not heard of Capology before, curious how accurate they are. Not going to list all the Norwich data, but there's some interesting players who you'd have to say are overpaid based on their contributions this season. Duffy £35k (Our highest paid player apparently, including for comparison) Stacey £35k Hanley £30k Barnes £30k Gunn £25k Fassnacht £20k Sorensen £20k Hernandez £19.5k Would give some indication as to the benefits of moving Barnes and Fassnacht along!
More of a general rumour with Gunn as he hasn’t accepted a new contract yet and with 6months remaining on his contract he could agree a deal elsewhere or the club may look to cash in if he’s not staying
The figures seem to be similar or bang on to the information I’ve seen elsewhere. Certainly wages for Barnes and Fassnacht that were reported when they left
Barnes and Fassnacht have gone, mainly due to salaries and fitness for Hoffball I would guess. JHT regrets them leaving but understands why it makes sense.
A corollary of teams setting up to stifle Borja is that, by doing so, they inevitably leave gaps elsewhere for players other than Borja to exploit (Forson's first goal on Saturday was a case in point). Actively buying into that aspect of being a marked man would, IMO, be more profitable for Sainz, than freedom to be his often greedy self more widely across the front line.
