Pedro isn't Bamford though? I'm not quite sure what point you're making. I'm not saying no player can do well past a certain age, I'm saying Patrick Bamford specifically has a career record of being profligate and injury prone outside of two brief periods of form. If he's so amazing why's he not scored yet this season? I mean if your rationale is that Pedro's doing well let's get Sharp back again.
Baz has already set an expectation that the striker will be underwhelming to many. But if we could afford Bamfords wages then surely there’s better options out there.
I don’t mind the expectation being set low for the striker, we might be pleasantly surprised. Much better than in the summer when we were promised the world and ended up with **** all.
This too, if we're contemplating even taking on a fraction of someone like Bamford's wage there's far better options out there.
Wouldn't mind us looking at Garang Kuol at Newcastle for a loan move but understand we need someone who can hit the ground running now.
It's going to be a really tough window, I think we've got little choice but to go into L1. We've overcomplicated recruitment for far too long and L1 is an oddly neglected league. There's plenty of quality in there which you can sign for very reasonable fees. The likes of Alfie, Lewie and Slater get a fair chunk of criticism yet we've spent £30m+ under Acun and they still start every week. Considering they cost a combined sum of £500k, they've been some signings.
Less than Morton and (weirdly) Philogene. But still better than Slater, Carvalho, Tufan, Traore, etc.
I mean surely more relevant to compare to the rest of our midfield not the league's because that would be indicative of how we set up to play.
Just always felt it was something we neglected in midfield, would’ve had a few more wins instead of draws if we’d had a better midfielder off the ball. We had 3 of the worst last season in Slater, Morton and Seri
Striker on loan, winger permanent which is an odd way around given we have an abundance of (injured) wingers. CB also close to joining before Sunday.
