Not sure whether anyone else noticed this. We played Wolves and lost again today. Now it always upsets me if Sunderland lose, more than it should at my age. The disappointment of that loss is slowly ebbing away. My son's away out with his mates, to talk about the future of SAFC over a pint. Not to dissect another inept Bruce performance. So tonight I sit with a glass of Glenfiddich my online mates and enemies keeping me company. And the knowledge that tomorrow a new broom who actually knows how to sweep is taking over at my beloved club. Yep even after a dismal defeat I'm back smiling. The Skunks are infesting every thread making themselves look like idiots. (Not hard when you think about it. ) And I'm still smiling. We are Sunderland. FTM
Martin O'Neill has pledged to do his "utmost to bring a bit of success to Sunderland", the team he supported as a boy growing up in Belfast. O'Neill has signed a three-year deal to succeed Steve Bruce as Sunderland boss and was present as his new side lost to Wolves at Molineux on Sunday. "It's a nice feeling to be back in football," O'Neill told SAFC TV. "Without promising the earth, moon and stars I will do my utmost to bring a bit of success to Sunderland." The former Leicester, Celtic and Aston Villa manager, who said "the Barclays Premier League has become the Holy Grail of football", also explained his boyhood love of the club. "You were either Celtic or Rangers in terms of a religious divide [in Belfast], but most of the boys took an English team too," he said. "Much to the laughing of one or two who took Manchester United and teams like that, I took Sunderland, with [Irish great] Charlie Hurley being there. "I never regretted it. I had a number of fights with other schoolboys about my choice, but outside that, not a problem."
One things clear lads he can't do any worse than what we have had lately. With his record we can all at least look forward rather than backward. My positivity is based on his proven track record. I never had this positive feeling from day one with Bruce.
Who has CLAIMED that on this thread numbnuts? But to answer your once again inane pointless post, do you actually think being relegated isn't worse you thick closet Mackem? You seriously need to **** off to your own board you're becoming a total embarassment!
**** off. Answer the question who claimed anything about avoiding relegation? I shall look forward to your wriggling answer in the morn. As the whisky is telling me to sit and take the piss out of you, but you aren't worth my time.
Not even when we were sitting 6th last year as I felt at the time it was a false position. Same as the Skunks position now. Their luck had to run out sometime and we will pass them this season on our way up as they slide down. (Bookmarked! save you typing it!) You want to trawl back through my posts, I said then, the talk of Europe wasn't founded on solid ground and a comfortable top half finish would do me. So you give it a rest, I leave delusion to the Skunks as they are so good at it.
Areet numbnuts still trying to get one over on me? Try browsing other boards, find some good retorts, come back and make out they're your own. As you clearly fail at doing so yourself. Read my response above, there would have been a lot more swear words if I was responding to your good self though so stick them in yourself whilst reading. Cheers! The 3-0 at Chelsea is by far the best I had seen us play under Bruce. We wouldn't be where we are now if we had continued in that vein. No good bringing up the passports, along with your support for your inbred cousins, trying and failing to win an argument with someone of clearly superior intelligence. As I never mentioned Europe or passports. PS. Do you not get sick of having your arse handed to you every other post?
Maybe a bit quiet, but if you have speakers..
Aye, had my speakers full blast comm but did manage to listen. Couple of bits stood out for me. "Every game is important." "Nothings insurmountable!"
Being pickey here lad but he's not from Belfast. He was born and raised in Kilrea and studied at St Colombs College Derry, maybe that holds well for young McClean?
Cut and paste mate, I bow before your better knowledge. Here's hoping MON gives the younguns a chance, as I thought it strange that SAFC were buying players for the future! When quite clearly we needed them for the here and now.
I really hope so lad as yesterday was a real downer after the excitement of the MON news. He certainly does have a job on his hands and lets hope everyone is patient and lets him do it his way as by the looks of it it will take time.
Simple question Derry, and i'll take your word for it, as you know more about him than all of us.. Can McClean make it?
