TWT whether this was a good management move. I suspect it was a lesson about the consequences of switching off last few seconds of a game as much as the social media gaff. It puts a lot of pressure on the lad, and it will be interesting whether he sulks, it inspires him for the next game or it’s a turning point for his career. Selles (and maybe his agent) know Abu and are in a better position to gauge how he will respond. I thought straight after the game, Selles pointed the finger at the team’s game management. Tbf a few minutes prior to the goal, Abu was sprinting back at left back tracking their player, then a few seconds prior to it, was sprinting to get onto Harry’s through ball. Maybe he had nothing left to track back? Before some say he had only been on for half the game, I am asking the question how quickly can you recover from two sprints? These are fine margins, their left sided player had also actually played less minutes than Kamara, and the game pretty much was decided by a sprint off between the two in the last few seconds. Don’t get me wrong, I was livid with him after the game and never wanted to see him in a City shirt again, but it was it laziness which we all assumed (because of that languid style).
Are you suggesting Kamara asked to do the interviews? I’d missed that and assumed it was a version of the naughty step? Good for him if he did.
TBH he did 2 things wrong. The timing was one, given it was 15 minutes after he arguably cost us a point. The second, was that he only dropped a couple of emoji, which meant it was left open to interpretation. If he'd have also said something like "congrats on your first goal, I'm delighted for you", then it would have been significantly less of an issue.
Hes just not he sharpest tool in the shed Id be surprised if he could even type that sentence out And i dont mean it in a nasty way
I think he may have had some input. Just my opinion but I think it is more player led, The other players will have been made aware of the message &, rightly, had a pop at him for it. Told him to put it right. Manager got involved & they discussed, as a group, & decided on a solution that would correct the issue with both fans & teammates. If you want to create a squad that’s up for a fight, which we do, then shouting down & isolating a single player for a naive mistake will do nothing but create division amongst the ranks. Calm heads & input from all creates togetherness. Kudos to Kamara, Selles & Coyle for the way it’s been handled. Just my opinion.
Yep, I think it was well handled. They explained what he meant, adding some context that the dumbass didn't, and apologised for any misunderstanding, meaning hopefully it'll stop any boo boys. It also sends a message to the rest of the squad about the way Selles expects the players to conduct themselves, and the potential consequences if they don't. You have to answer today the fans, not just me
If only there was a way, through various media, of contacting a friend privately without the whole world knowing eh?
It’s a good move if Kamara is involved in the decision to do it - it’s a bad move if he isn’t as I think it’ll make the squad think they are being managed by a maverick again. Either way - yes it was a bit silly to do it but the fan base reaction has also been ridiculously over the top.
I knew nothing about it, I have no idea how anyone saw it on a Portsmouth post anyway! Blown out of all proportion, but that’s just Social Media **** these days!
I didn't either, but a lot fewer people would have known about it had he just sent him a quick text, or I believe you can even message privately on instagram if that's cooler
Should be able to do whatever he wants, within reason, without having to worry about what other people think!
I'm more cautious in my social media use. Always stop to think what would my employer/friends/family think if they saw this. Sad but that's the way it is.
That’s why I say, within reason, but if I’m on Facebook or Instagram & I see a girl in a bikini & like it & send emoji, I don’t expect to get the 3rd degree from my Mrs. If, however, I like it & say, I wouldn’t mind a piece of that, I’d expect a different response from my Mrs!
They get media training tho I would never know as I don’t do that **** But it gets out that’s the whole point It just adds to the suspicion with him his head isn’t in the game Hopefully he’s fully committed
I’d like to think you’re intelligent enough to pick up on the game management part of my post But maybe not Game management is taking off a striker to hold onto a lead or a draw in our case Hope this helps
