His interview with James Hogarth's been posted on this thread and he says we're no more ****ed than any other club in the Championship.
Wow...Who in the right mind would own a football club.? Good listen that...Overall, then according to KM it's not exactly honky-dory, but things aren't too bad.... The bloke who owned Everton wrote off £450 million of his own brass. If Amazon do me for £20, I throw a wobbly.
My old man used to know the old Wolves chairmen. Was it Morgan? Anyway he pumped money into the club say 40 million and couldn’t get out the Championship, all he got was pelters and abuse for the fans. Football is a strange entity.
I couldn't sleep in the early hours so watched a documentary on sky about QPR and those lunatics who bought it with Ecclestone. It reminded me so much of the owner of the London Broncos who recently walked away £23 million lighter. He would, like them, sit there saying to his mates that he was going to sack the coach after the game on almost a weekly basis between 2020 and 2023 when I was there. He would tell one of us to get messages to the coach to bring players on or off. Absolute mad man. Watching them early this morning doing the same thing at QPR reminded me of Acun for some reason. I can imagine him having that sort of unhinged way of watching games and blaming everyone but himself for the state of the club. But, and to relate to your point at the end, it is crazy that they do so much for a club and it soon turns nasty for them. There is just no middle ground where owners listen to fans and respect their thoughts. So ultimately, for many owners, it turns sour. On the documentary it was actually very interesting watching Neil Warnock grab the mic off a player who was slating the owner and turning it around by saying 'these are business men from different industries and sometimes a different era, we have to respect they do things differently.' I think Acun has a good heart but he seems to be as mad as they come and my worry is he will get fed up if the abuse starts again. There is nothing holding him here and the debt is relatively small for him to write off.
Thanks for this link also, it seems like we are ****ed if we can't deliver profit this year except owner injection. Do you have any info about which banks are they? I can find it if there are names or at least dates.
A couple of weeks after these accounts were filed, we made £30m+ on player sales, so we’ve already pulled most of it back.
We also spent 27M on buying players, which some of them probably has no value at the moment thanks to injuries. I don't understand why people consider 30M sale as a savior, even if we are paying in installments for new players, quite a big chunk of that money already has been spent this summer. From all those numbers, only positive thing I can come up for this year, we are probably losing 200-300K instead of 500K per week, thanks to reduced wage bill. Maguire was basically telling all Championship teams depends on owner injection/subsidizing, and at this point I don't understand why you guys treat Acun has endless money pit that can subsidize us. Acun's net worth is almost equal to debt he created 60M+ pounds in 3 years.
Maguire states situation is normal because all championship teams are subsidized by owners, so it is an expected situation for him. In our case, our owner is not that rich, debt he created is somewhat around his net worth already.
Where do you get his net worth from? I'd be surprised he could keep his plane in the air if the value of his assets was only 60m.
Perhaps the expenses/costs of running his private plane can be offset by his 'business' interests elsewhere? (cough)
QPR 4 year plan or something mate. Just type QPR into sky search and it will pop up. I really enjoyed it.
Good post Jim....Was the dye cast with Acca when he became a Fenners director, or whatever he is there...I for one, think he'll be more likely to ditch City in say 6 months, then do anything to progress the project. But I could be wrong. It's been known. Was the QPR chairman Tony whathisface...Owned an airline company or summat in the Far East.
