I’d have separated the clauses with a semi colon; a much underused punctuation mark in my opinion. I’d also have considered using hung as the past tense of hang; however hanged is an acceptable alternate form if you are referring to an execution, rather than an inanimate object.
I respectfully refer you Ernie’s post above… I expect you’d prefer to be well hung rather than well hanged… (I think if he’d been hung for a laugh then pulled back up that would be have been correct, but to kill someone deliberately by hanging is usually hanged…I think)
