Of course it's about different squads - but your comment was "you know you are in trouble when Coyle is your Captain" which is a blanket criticism of the player in question. My point - as you have covered above - is that who is he captain of? I would argue he should remain club captain - but for me Jones should be on field captain. That said, and although he is going through probably his worst spell for us at the moment, Coyle still has a role to play both on and off the pitch - and I can't work out if your comment about community projects is serious or not either.
I'm sure he is great to have around for charity stuff and club events but we need a proper leader out there now. It's Warren Joyce great escape time.
It's not quite that bad (16 points from 26 games). More like the Phil Brown taking over from Phil Parkinson scenario
Feel for him and Puerta at the minute. They cover every blade and have no cover. Simons really didn’t replace Puerta’s energy
Puerta took a big kick to the face on about 35 minutes which looked quite nasty, might have just been a precaution.
Somebody should have been after that Barlaser after that to get him a red... unfortunately the only one who seems to have any spice was the one taken off...
Oddly he's the same on the pitch, seldom gets at the officials like a niggly gobby captain should, questioning every decision and sowing doubt in their heads. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
We really need to be playing him and Alzate every game between now and the end of the season. A new number 6 to provide depth and a number 10 to be a creative spark is definitely needed. I don't envy Jared Dublin this window.
He just doesn't get pissed off enough for me. I understand that you need a calming influence, but you also need to be sticking up for your team mates and when Gus got the boot, the only ones who went to the ref I think were Pedro and Alzate. There's a lot to be annoyed about on the pitch this season and it would be good to see Lewie shouting more and urging his team on, because that feeds into the crowd. A captain should act as the manager's lieutenant on the field, it shouldn't be the case that he just "lets them get on with it."
Oh ok And drameh?? For all the stick Coyle is getting he played ok at left back imho and as plt has said before can put a ball in with his left. And I thought drameh was poor again! So Coyle is the best left and right back at the club!! Full backs don’t get you relegated The centre of midfield however… Do all the blowing smoke up the arse of slater puerta and alzate you want did they get into boro? No
As I said last night.... he was was 'seemingly' quick enough to stick up for Slater when TW gave him a blocking which might have been the start of his demise...
He played better than he did in the last few games but if that's the standard we're setting then we're ****ed. Puerta did get stuck in, hence why he ended up with his head nearly getting kicked off. Alzate put his fair share of tackles in too, but the whole team ended up sitting back and it made it difficult to challenge.
We can talk about coyle being quiet in some shop all we want But the fact is We are in the relegation zone cause we are **** Might become less **** with some good signings over next 4 weeks Maybe Maybe not
Coyle is getting stick because his performances have dropped off a cliff. We know about Giles and Kamara, but for a Hull lad above anyone at the club he should know what a hole we are in and raise his game accordingly and be that leader. Seems his confidence is shot too. as you rightly said, I thought he did ok at LB last night but resorted to type at RB.
Makes you wonder given that a large amount of the players getting slated for mistakes are the same ones in last seasons playoff pushing squad yet that one should’ve done better
largely the same...we lost the scorers of something mad like 66 of the 68 goals we scored.....there's a consistency to the squad but the teams are incomparable
