I heard the Swansea squad were in a Chinese restaurant recently and were seen passing the menu back and forward to themselves so often trying to decide what to order that one player gave up and went to the chippy next door to get some food
Are Luton really in a relegation scrap? Looking at the table it seems they are. Rob Edwards may be cast aside possibly.
Just looking at that Champ table after that Pompey loss last night. True, it means we're still off the trap door at the moment but our dropping points at the death from winning positions has cost us a comfortable mid table slot. Conceding the last goal in the final minutes in 4 games at Bristol, Coventry, Stoke and now Watford at home, has converted wins to draws and cost us 8 points. That would put us up amongst the likes of QPR and Millwall right now and I don't believe they're any better than us.
I've expressed some negativity of late, specifically around the new striker we're looking to sign. So, some balance. We're looking a more stable side of late, picking up some valuable points. We've put ourselves in the position to win games. We've found a tyro who knows where the back of the net is. We're creating a lot more opportunities than we were. We're looking better than a lot of the opposition teams. We've a player coming back from suspension and others coming back from injury. We need a lift up front, we need to see games out, but, we're looking a mid-table side, not a bottom 3 side. Yes, we need to turn the opportunity into points, but we've something to build on. I'd be a lot happier with those 8 points on the board. I think a couple quick wins will also allow the players to play with a bit more confidence in seeing games out. And allow Riza to to make less defensive changes in the last 15 mins. He's done some good work, but needs to sort out a few of his selection and substitution errors. We're still not out of the woods, but there are signs of encouragement.
Looking at a few of the results, a loss today and we'd have been well in the brown and smellies. Wins for Hull, Portsmouth, Oxford and Coventry with a draw for stoke. A few weeks back it looked like 3 from 4. Now it's more 2 from 8 or 10 to join Plymouth.
Looking at mid week fixtures it’ll get even more congested. It also shows how teams who go on a run - QPR & Oxford eg - can leap up the table quickly. When we played those two they were below us now they’re both mid table. Keep an eye on the likes of Millwall, PNE, Derby & Stoke - their recent form has put them closer to the bottom teams. Also one will expect Luton & Hull will pick it up. All we can do is just keep on picking up points especially against teams around us for we have games against top 6 games on the horizon. Unbeaten in the league this year though
