Sky News (not Sports) are reporting Wayne Rooney has left his post by mutual agreement.

It’ll be interesting to see what happens tomorrow.

Had Rooney lost the dressing room? An uptick in attitude will suggest he had and they’re glad to see him go.

The entire senior coaching team have gone, which is a worry, and there’s no mention of Neil Dewsnip.

We are by the way trending on Sky: the news is running on the Breaking News ticker tape. That’s a first and hopefully the last - unless it’s “Plymouth Argyle Win Champions League”.

Phew....at last...the experiment is over....Wayne Rooney's managerial ability has repeated itself yet again.....although this time he had the benefit of a pre-season the end result was the same.

What a awkward moment to need a new manager with the January transfer window opening tomorrow......will this effect the talked about investment.....or did that have a say in his going..

Also going is Mike Phelan and Simon Ireland.....this means that Kevin Nancekivell and Joe Edwards will lead the team for tomorrows home game against Bristol City.

Have the Directors a name in mind to take on the job.....we cannot allow it to be a long drawn out affair....with the need to strengthen the squad and are precarious league position.

I don’t agree that Wayne Rooney’s managerial skills have been proved one way or another.

We’ve suffered a huge rash of injuries to some of our most important players. Prior to that, our home performance was respectable with some very good football played. There’s longstanding issue of away performance had not been solved. That pre-dated Rooney.

Because injuries have played a large part, a fair verdict will never be possible unless we continue to plummet under another manager even with a full squad, in which case the finger will point at the players and recruitment rather than the manager. That will be a pyrrhic victory for the Rooney-bashers.

It on the other hand, we enjoy a sudden recovery then the finger will indeed point at Rooney. I do think there’s been a feeling of disorganisation and disillusionment lately. Perhaps that’s Rooney, perhaps it’s just the weight of a string of poor results.

At least it’s done. Right or wrong, it couldn’t go on with that level of disproportionate coverage. That’s the problem when the manager has a bigger profile than the club.

It's fashionable to kick someone who is down these days. There are bound to be those who will never look at both sides of a coin and will always come down on the side that looks worse. He's gone, I'm not sorry but I am not jubilant either. I agree with you notdistant. The injury list would be bad enough for a big club to shoulder but for a club our size it was always going to be a disaster and the disaster got bigger not smaller. It's really hard to judge if he did ok, terrible or somewhere inbetween. I have huge doubts though if he will ever venture into management again. More important for us is who's next.

It seems he wasn't drawing a salary... who knew that?

It's not just the numbers injured is it, it's who it is.... Edwards, Cissoko, Whittaker (briefly), Tijani. If you'd made a list of players you DIDN'T want to see injured, that would be it.

Well i wont kick the man i can say its no surprise after the run we had, the last win was Pompey at home and that was a bad watch. A long list of injuries doidnt help to key players . I see the coacjing staff have gone and hopefully Dewsnip .. has he been confirmed the other 2 have.

Lerts see who is next .. mark Robins has been mentioned..

Well we need something tomorrow for sure..

He may end up helping Man utd out?

Happy New Year To everyone and best wished for 2025 and lets hope its a year we stay in The Championship

hopefully my headache will be gone time i get to the match tomorrow shame its an early start

Everyone says you have the smallest budget in the League - so a tough job
Obviously I have only seen you once this season - I thought that tactically he set you up well at Ashton Gate (it all imploded after the first goal)
    Is Schumacher coming back?

Some seem to say he should, which is odd as he dumped us unceremoniously for Stoke. I can't see it.

The void Schumacher left just over a year ago.....has never been filled.....we have struggled ever since.

So the thought of Schumacher returning doesn't go down well with many fans....me included.

Just because he is available at present hopefully will not swing the odds to taking him back because he is available....and of course a cheaper and quicker option.

I've been reading the pasoti take on Dewsnip where the announcement has been made although not seen it anywhere officially. One on there makes a very valid point about Dewsnip going opening the door to a posible Schumaker return. Whilst I would have said a short time ago that this would not happen under any circumstances I now have modified that view and think it just could. I think Schumaker made a happiness choice wrongly previously and knows it and even though I question his loyalty I would still take him back at a push. With his compensation from Stoke maybe he could afford the wage reduction here.......

Happy New Year everyone. I'm locking the door this evening and staying put with my glass of Savignon (or two). I may not be feeling well currently but figure if I already feel a bit crap then several glasses won't change that or make any difference..

I have to say, I’ve always thought New Year to be a pale imitation of Christmas.

It hasn’t been helped this year by Sophie Ellis-Bextor mutilating songs written by other people either side of the Sir Sadiq Khan Celebration Fireworks. Which elf was she in the Lord Of The Rings? She still has the ears.

It is a time for remembering years gone by though and I suddenly remembered the night I dreamt I lent Wayne Rooney my umbrella. No, I’m serious, I did. As I remember, I couldn’t get it back. That must mean something.

It means you aren't Mary Popins because the umbrella didn't work.

If somebody is offered 3 or 4 times their current salary then it is hardly rocket science that somebody gtakes it. The hurt is losing a favourite or somebody who is doing well for your club halfway through a season and all the upheaval it causes. Our season nearly fell apart when he left and of course fans blame him for it. However, it wasn't his fault really was it. Can't see Lowe being offered again. If he would come then I absolytely could see Schumaker here. I have got over my initial disappointment and would be happy enough to take him in again. It's ability you are paying for and all the rest is just bull and bluff.
