Of the current bottom six, four of them have the same record over the last six games - including us. Won 2, drawn 1 lost 3. Cardiff's record is slightly worse with 2 draws and 1 win and Plymouth are the team currently in freefall. That was us before Selles arrived, sinking like a stone. The point is that to pull away from the bottom we need to outpace at least 3 of the teams around us and we're not currently doing that. I've seen some nonsense posted that fans would be happy to lose tomorrow and then get something from the Leeds game. An idiotic attitude. We need to pick up points wherever we can get them. We beat Blackburn at theirs. We should be going into this game nothing short of aiming to win it. The Leeds game doesn't come into it. Bizarre.
The 3 teams below us All have a game in hand Pompey have 2 Hopefully its all losses but We are battling for our lives Every points needed But we need to ideally win a few in a row
If we can turn the likes of Boro over with so many players missing we really have turned the corner.. Would take a draw now but it’s arguably a free hit and where at home. Get into ‘em. Good health and a Happy New Year.. UTT.
As Ernie says.... we are absolutely NOT in the free hit arena. its all hands on deck for every single game until the end of the season... one win one loss ratios do not keep us up....
I did say arguably. They’ll fancy all 3 points as will TWS but expect twists and turns with the usual shocks on route to the 50 /52 points target usually needed to avoid the drop. UTT.
With Selles I feel like anything can happen. A 1-0 win wouldn’t surprise me but a 4-0 hammering loss wouldn’t surprise me either. With Walter I felt we were always going to lose, so at least the mindset has changed.
Looking forward to taking my daughter to first night game under the lights, well she’s too young for a proper night game so it’s close enough . Not looking forward to buying tea at the game and starting new year off In my overdraft ..
Not what I said. Assuming we're going to lose against one of Boro and TWS, this is the one I'd rather lose, for purely selfish reasons. If we can avoid defeat in both then great.
Actually, a one win, one loss ratio would keep us up very nicely. 22 games to go, with eleven wins and eleven defeats we would finish with 55 points. Absolutely safe.
8 wins would give us 13 in total, which is the same Birmingham had last season when they were relegated. I think we’ll need more than that. Walter really needed to go five or six games sooner to give us more time to turn it around. As it stands, Sellés has to better almost every Championship manager we’ve ever had in terms of win percentage, points per game etc. As a result, Acun has made it much harder than it needed to be.
Sellés has averaged 1.4 points a game so far. Keep it up and we’d be on track for 52 points. There isn’t a lot of room for error though.
I agree we should not treat it as a free hit …but a one win one loss ratio absolutely would keep us up
