then I’ll happily wave goodbye. Salah is 1 in a million and breaking records every other week, we don’t throw 350k at right backs and I’m totally ok with that
Right now they might. 12 months ago? 6 months ago? I highly doubt it as why would you tie yourself down when you’re under no pressure to at a club which is going through its biggest change in 8 years. If they signed and suddenly we were 10th in the league because slots come in and been poor knocked out the CL you think they’d be sat there going was a good decision to sign up? Nope they’d be pissed and would be even more disharmony. Just put it into personal life. If your manager that you really like suddenly announced they are leaving and you don’t know who is coming to replace but you know in 12 months you could go get a similar job at another company guaranteed for same if not more money, would you sign up for another 3 years in the hope that a new manager comes in that you like and get on with? Or would you wait in case they’re a total dick. No brainer.
The job of the dof is to protect the club. Letting all 3 go on a free is not protecting the club. He has gone past the point of being able to sell. Rafa sold Owen and got 8mil he could see the writing on the wall even though it'd hurt the club he did it. I won't mention how it ended up as there was huge luck and effort along the way. Hughes has gone past that point and has now let it get to January so all 3 can do their deals now l. He's used up every bit of power he might halve had and is now at the point where he will either pony up.exactly what they want or they walk and slot can't even drop them as the are undropable (even trent according to some) It is simply not good enough from a dof
so you know the clubs actions? Presumably you also know the respective agents demands? Rhetorical questions so no need to answer. What if Salah’s agent is asking for Saudi money, Trent and VvD are asking for parity with Salah…..where do you start? It takes more than a quick handshake and may never be possible but I refer you to my first sentence; we know nothing and I know as much as you. We are not a country owned, backhander paying club…finances are pivotal. Whether you like it or not, you’re going to have to trust the club to get on with it.
I’d rather win the title this year and lose all 3 on a free than sell all 3 in the summer for a combined 60m and be sitting in 7th place.
if we win the title and lose all 3 on a free in a year or two we’ll go remember the season we won it, what a brilliant year that was. What wouldn't have happened is if we sold them all in the summer for £60m and been sitting 7th, we wouldn’t be going yeah it’s a good job we got some cash for them as although we’re doing a bit ****, at least we got a bit of money for them. It’s not our money. I’d rather have them for an extra year and enjoy the ride than sell them for peanuts
I wonder if its a case the club want to announce all 3 at the same time. I wonder if 1 has agreed and they are still negotiating with the other 2. If they announce 1 individually I would take it as one or both wont be signing. Trent has possibly made things awkward for himself with the celebration because if he does sign with Real Madrid he is going to look a little silly. I do have a little worry about Hughes transfer dealing weren't great in the summer and this saga is going on a bit to long now.
Here’s the thing. If Trent is asking for nearly £200k a week more, we can assume the others are not dissimilar. That would equate to around 5% of our entire revenue just on salary increases for 3 players. So if it is money they’re after, I think we’re f%#ked. perhaps look at this differently. Why don’t we increase ticket prices by 30 to 40% to pay for them? No? I didn’t think so….. we could sell Endo and someone like Doak but not reinvest the money into the squad? No? I wouldn’t either….. let’s hope it’s not just money then!!
I would also remind everyone that alot of the Trent talk is coming from AS, who are just a mouth piece for Real and used for Real's dirty transfer tactics. If you believed them Trent would be lining up in Real's next game, didn't they run a story like 2 days ago that said Trent would announce he's joining Real on New year's day or some nonsense.
It can only be money holding it up (in Trent's case) can't it? Salah and VVD might have a contract length issue with their ages.
money (basic vs win bonuses) length of contract, image rights and maybe parity clauses (also future money) would be the big things I’d guess but I’m no expert - I am hoping that Mo and VvD seek glory, not greed but I’m probably being very naive. if all three are asking for huge money regardless of success, we might be in trouble. Our salary structure is geared towards winning and if we don’t win, we pay less. This is smart.
"The Reports that have been suggesting that Trent Alexander-Arnold is eager to be in the top-earning bracket and wants to earn the same amount as Mo Salah and Virgil Van Dijk are understood to be wide of the mark (Untrue) Trent knows his place in the pecking #**** that he's been getting from a rumour that was started from the S*n Rag, that suggested he was demanding £350k a week. What surprised me was the amount of Liverpool FC pages and Groups that spread that gossip especially from where it came from (embarrassing and piss poor admin who should be ashamed of them selves) Trent has repeatedly said his contract negotiations will be kept behind closed doors." If so, TAA can go to Madrid. He's not worth more than 250kpw. That's money that takes away from future transfers. I like TAA but he's replaceable. We always knew giving Salah his crazy wages would cause wage issues with others wanting more downstream in the squad... Now we're seeing it first hand.
Or it could be that he has decided he wants to go to Real and no amount of money is going to deflect him from that purpose.
Supposedly Milan wants Nunez for £41 mill... Loan to buy. We got him for £65 mill plus £20mill of add-ons... Not sure how many of those add ones he's earned but presumably winning the PL will be worth something if we achieve that. (And he's probably played in enough games this year he'll get a medal even if we loan/sell him now). Despite being at least a £25mill loss, I'd take it if true. I don't think we'll get more and I don't think he suits our team. I think he could be good for someone else, but we've let his value decline. Cut our losses and sign someone who will suit Slot more.
