Yeah I think they will too, unless they start doing quite as badly as us. McKenna is pretty highly rated too though, so he may get poached if he keeps them competitive because that is overachieving in the PL with that squad. It’s a pretty long shot to develop Ipswich into a staple PL club, so maybe now he’s seen the gulf, he could be more amenable to moving on if a decent opportunity presents itself. Let’s see how the second half of the season goes!
I have telephoned the Saints' switchboard 20 times a day for the last couple of weeks and asked to speak to Mr Martin. The reply has been the same each time "Mr Martin is no longer with us sir". To which I say "I know but I love hearing you say it".
David Moyes on the BBC this evening, talking about potential return to management: Football is in my blood, it has been ever since I was a boy. I've been brought up with it always. I love watching football, I love being in football and I've enjoyed my career. If there's another part to my career, then so be it, but I would only want that if it was to be a good part. I wouldn't want to be coming in somewhere and doing something which is very, very difficult.
He’s been left with absolute ****e to deal with. But yes he’s horribly naive if he thinks he can play with Ugo and Aribo in a 2 man midfield. Awful management of awful players as usual.
https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/24847513.southampton-fc-fans-pen-poem-russell-martin/ A poem for Russell Martin: That wonderful day at Wembley that no one will ever forget, Those 25 games without losing, a record we could never expect. We loved seeing you at the away games, when you came over to talk to our fans. We all miss that thoughtful gesture; it meant a lot to us there in the stands. For the people behind the goal at your last game, we apologize, With their silly banners and chanting; that behavior our true fans despised! Some people in this world are heartless, we all saw them in the Northam Stand. Even Match of the Day said that they were harsh — they must think what ungrateful fans! They did all of that to Ralph, causing us relegation then. Now they've gone and done it to you, sending us spiralling down once again! No one will save us this time, as you are no longer here. We'll end up in the lower leagues below Pompey — oh, how they will cheer!
Oh shut the **** up (not you, Libby) ... the fans turning are not the cause of relegation. Think about why fans turn you daft bimbos
