He’s learned the error of his ways. He’s put Tonali in instead of Lobby and shut the front door it worked. That’s Interesting isn’t it. Putting italys BEST player in front of a cart horse seems to have worked wonders. Who would have known.
Got to say all the Howe fanboys seem to have overlooked the point that had we been playing to the strengths of Tonali we’d be a lot better off already this season. There’s also been a recent shift in using subs properly, and changing corners. No idea where it all came from, but long may it continue.
Nobody's perfect, and I don't always agree with his decisions, but I'm a fan of Eddie Howe. Without being particularly critical of Longstaff, we can all see his limits. The stats, for what they're worth, did appear to support his inclusion in the team earlier in the season. That's clearly changed. For a long time I wondered if Tonali and Bruno could both play to their strengths in our midfield. Howe now seems to have got it right - we're making loads of chances and scoring.
Howe has found the perfect side. Just minor tweaks. Tonali and Bruno together are unplayable. We look a dangerous side that can keep a clean sheet. Add a new GK and RW with some squad depth and we're close to be regular challengers.
We need GK and 2 CB's and RW to be comfortable top 4 challengers really. That's not to say we can't challenge without that - we clearly can - but I'd say we have about th 6-7th best team in the league right now. For the purposes of cover we deperately need a striker as if Isak gets injured we're half the team we currently are, we wont get one though and this is likely to be our achilles heel.
It's not just 7 in a row, 6 of them were by 2+ goals and 4 of them 3+. We've been the best team in all of them except probably the Tottenham game - which was 50-50.
