This club’s transfer policy never ceases to amaze me. Sign a load of technical midfielders when we’re already stacked in midfield for that type. Wouldn’t surprise me if we sign another keeper
Agree it’s annoying but I suspect the market for strikers is going to be very competitive. I can’t even think who realistically we could grab other than young players on their first loan or someone looking to revive their career like Ross Stewart
You would think so .... but surely if that was the case he would have said 'winger' rather than creative AM (or whatever exact wording he used). Sounds more like that Wolves AM (Cundle) that's been mentioned; another short midfielder!! And totally lacking match fitness having not played for 1st team nor their U21's this season - 1 sub appearance in cup game back in August. Surely not.
Feels like this is the 4th? window in a row that we've needed a squad overhaul or a number of new additions. We need at least 5 top quality players to come in to save us and given the track record of whoever the ****'s in charge these days, I have serious doubts they'll pull it off. For every Delap / Carvalho/Philogene there's a Giles, Tetteh, Pelkas, Woods, Omur, Bedia, Burns, Mehlem, Twine, Traoré, Sharp, Vinagre, Lokilo, Furlong, Figueiredo, Sinik. etc. etc. Their track record is **** and quality prem loanees won't be sent to a team fighting relegation. Acun's got a lot to answer for.
60 transfers totalling about 51m euros and we are in the position we are in. Granted this summer window has had some bad luck with injuries but it does highlight a lack of stability
We were discussing the strikers we've had whilst pedalling this morning... from Van of H, to Altidore, N'Doye, Eeeeeaves and then I threw Dicko in and my mate nearly fell off his bike laughing... Oh for an Abel Hernandez right now... jees we've wasted some money on that department and other than AH have never found one....
We'd be utterly screwed without being able to sell Greaves and KLP for pure profit, but there's not another of them kicking about it seems. I can't imagine the current ownership stick around for much longer tbh.
There is much talk of a mini clear out but a reality check. Firstly what Championship side is going to come in for any of our players. Chances are zero Secondly which of the players is going to opt to take a huge salary cut to move on a deal to the lower divisions, Chances are zero Thirdly we could offer some of the current squad on loan but that would mean we pick up much of their current salary which is not much of a saving. Fourthly we might try to get those whose contracts are up next year tom go out on a loan with option to buy as they are likely to understand they will be released at the end of this season and will then struggle to find a club. We may be able to persuade some of the clubs to take back their players in January who are underperforming but that will mean the parent club will have to pick up the full wages for a player unlikely to get into their own squad. Why would they want to do that? We all agree the last window recruitment was poor and most of us cannot believe any scout who saw most of them play has seen anything to recommend them. Whether Durban had anything to do with it is a question. Some of these players were recruited after he joined so it would be surprising if he did not have some involvement. We are likely to be stuck with most of the current squad and this will limit opportunities to recruit. I hope i am totally wrong in my assumptions
