Surprised to see criticism of Matty Jacob, they clearly targeted him in the second half (well, they thought they were targeting Giles I’d guess) and he held up pretty well under a lot of pressure - nowhere near the worst of our second half performers.

It certainly helps if you've got pace!

I think it helps more if you can kick a ball in the right direction.

Yes, sorry, that was actually my point but I got my ‘wings’ the wrong way around. I actually think he performed better for us when he was on the left, putting some decent crosses in. Since he’s been switched to the right, he won’t go past his man on the outside.

Just picking up on the mention of Burstow amongst the wingers, where to be fair to him, he’s been asked to do a job and has done much better than a lot of other stand-ins we’ve had out there but it’s not his usual role.

Sorry for the belated reply, but I saw this just now and I thought it made a similar point quite well. Although about somewhere else entirely, obvs. (Edit - though having visited through work and based on some of what it says in there you could make a case for Nantes culturally being something like a French equivalent to Hull)

    Similar thoughts since October.

Wally’s departure simply papered over gaping problems all over the park. You’d imagine Selles will need the rest of the season and more depending on finances to turn City around somewhat with no guarantees but for now, it’s fair to say with injuries piling up the way they are without an incredible turn of form and fortune City are almost certainly one of the favourites to go down now unless The Big Turk and his team can somehow find enough quality in January to give us a fighting chance of avoiding League One football next season.

    UTT.

A bloke near me in SE corner shouts 'quicker City' every game without fail about fifty times each game.....I dare say a few have heard him because he's got a huge voice, and he's got a thing for Coyle, but there are few options...There is no obvious out ball. Players are static and don't show. And lets be fair we're missing Seri and Morton big time. Players who can see a pass and can deliver, unlike this season.

I think Alzate has filled that Seri void. He did a lot more off the ball than Seri used to as well. Just the 7 tackles he made yesterday

Fair enough...Who's covering for Morton? Tufan et al?

No one. Puerta seems to be coming into his own, Slater should probably have as many goals as Tufan did at this point!

Midfield isn’t really the issue I don’t think for us.

Wide areas, no quality out wide and poor full backs

Slater should have buried chances v Swansea and yesterday. Criminal to put it over from there...On a more general point I listened to P. Swann post-match yesterday. Saying something on the lines that he can see steady improvement game by game. The blokes deluded. By the time the improvement has arrived the season will be over.

His cross against Coventry led to our goal. Doesn’t count on the stat sheet but it was a good ball

The improvement we saw against Swansea was wiped out by a slack performance yesterday, how Swanny can arrive at that conclusion is puzzling at best.

Selles style seems quite demanding. Think we will be inconsistent throughout this period

Slater had some decent moments yesterday, im starting to think that’s what he is. A moments player. He ****s up way too many basics though, number of decent positions he ****s up in is bonkers.
