So going desperately close to financial fair play points deduction and putting millions each year into the club not good enough for you? Yes we’ve failed, but mainly because we backed the wrong manager by giving him everything. Just a shame senior Lansdown has left the kids in charge at the moment.
I actually like what I think Manning is trying to achieve. Quick, pass and move - it’s attractive to watch. If only we had the players with the skills to carry it off…………..
Agreed doesn't look good business, but he spent that after Nige sold the £20m player he had in the side for most of his tenure
Not really. There’s a difference between wanting to sign someone to wanting to sell your best players. Most managers will want to sign players, but won’t want to sell their best players.
Ok - I accept that - so that must mean that LJ wouldn’t have wanted to sell Pack or Brownhill either, but he gets slated. There’s a definite ‘cliquey boys’ culture here. If your face doesn’t fit you’re a pariah…….
at the time [ January ] it was pretty much a general concensus that selling Brownhill was stupid we were beginning to gel! in with a chance ... but it all went Downhill FROM THAT POINT.... Ashton [ not our beloved poster ] was getting us back to black and enhancing his "rep"
It looks pretty when it's in our own half, venture into the opponents half they hardly make moves off the ball and runs in behind, we are predictable and boring imo, lack any passion, drive or commitment, but hey he's had £11+ million to spend in two windows. But as always our problems are deeper than the current Head coach.
I will be following our team tomorrow, loyally and with complete support (TV only these days) but if our demise continues how much longer can our owner leadership be coated with Teflon.?
I’m flying back to Stansted from Gdansk this evening but I might be able to catch some of the game from the airport. Anyone know if Naki is available?
I have said this for a while Wiz, we can blame successive managers if we like, but the questions have to be asked higher up at the club as to why we don’t make significant progress. We have tried young ‘up and coming managers’ and the ‘wiley old fox’ managers and still not seen great progress in this division other than being established. That said, go back to the 80’s & 90’s, I, and I suspect most others on here would have snapped our hand off to be a team established in the 2nd tier of English football. We are that now, and except for 2-3 seasons since our return we have been a mid-upper half team. That is progress, maybe just not enough for some…
we have nothing to do with it. the we would still have Pearson in charge with money to spend rather than then latest novice. the we in charge is Steve Lansdown a man who gives the bucks to spend to the novices while managers with WINNER on the cv get to tidy up the **** before Steve brings in another novice!!.
Perhaps the “we” collective need to take the blinkers off and look where the “WINNER” finished in his seasons in charge…. He had c£8m to spend during his tenure, at a time when there was ZERO money in football, and he didn’t sell a single player to offset that spend. He then sold, or had sold from under him (please, someone in the “WE” collective make a definitive stance on this…) Semenyo and Scott. Yes, it was a bit harsh he didn’t get to spend any of it, but it was clear to a lot of us, and it seems the board, that Nige wasn’t up to it anymore. If the “WE” collective were and continue to be seduced by a name that had success over a decade ago, that is your prerogative , doesn’t make it true though.
