Pretty content with this. He looks an interesting appointment, and kind of confirms the possession football thing was something that came from Wilcox and not SR. He seems to tick a lot of boxes and if we're looking to recruit in January maybe he knows of some decent options in Italy. Loans could be particularly handy. If he needs to improve the squad's fitness it's a slight shame he's coming in just before Christmas when the games come thick and fast. I bet those first couple of weeks in January are going to be hard work for the players.
The last few days, I've watched a lot of games of Southampton to see what problems there are and to try and understand the situation. Like I said, I am really happy and sure that I will really enjoy this work. It's a really bad situation in this moment but I'm very optimistic because I saw a team that can do better. I was already watching all the games and I saw that the atmosphere is wonderful at St. Mary's. To be here on Boxing Day will be special for me. It's important to immediately connect with our fans.
