I wouldn’t, and that’s the honest truth, if everyone did the same as what they have done it would have been a level playing field and they might have won nowt.
I think they'll just be relegated to the level they were at when the cheating started, so is that nowhere? I think they were in the prem already? Be funny if they got a massive points deduction and then got to play next year getting out of the relegation zone. Hopefully they will be stripped of all their titles though.
Chelsea done it before “FFP” was thing. No idea why anyone would want to see United able to spend £200m every window because they spent money to build the club before regulations were brought in to protect to elite.
Have you not just answered your own question? They spent the money after the regulations were brought in.
Right? But I don’t have to agree with those regulations. Financial fair play is far from fair, they’ve basically played the elite at their own game and I love that. Is it fair that the richest man in the world could buy Bournemouth yet they’d never be allowed to spend the same an Man Utd even though he has the money in his back pocket whilst United use loans to do it?
Still playing Plymouth v Boro - 9 mins added on up to now Finished 3-3. 6 points ahead of Blackburn in 5th but they have a game in hand and 8 points ahead of Boro in 6th
Exactly, I don’t agree with them but the rules changed and most other clubs followed them. So it’s unfair for them not to.
I know how highly rated Middlesbrough are on here, thought I’d mention that they conceded 3.56 xG to Wayne Rooney’s Plymouth. In terms of game state, Plymouth weren’t behind all game either.
That’s fair enough but nobody is convincing me teams like Aston Villa are spending £200m a year on wages without fiddling their figures. I think loads of them are at it, I just think they want to make an example of City. You can’t allow the govt to intervene and twist your arm to allow a terrorist state to buy a football club then take the moral ground over spending and revenue it’s just bizarre to me
I agree, but there had to be new rules. Otherwise which ever was the richest man could buy the previous richest man’s team and carry on winning the titles and then someone else could do the same. I know that won’t happen but that’s the problem letting the richest man just buy what he wants.
I get that mate but as it stands it just allows the elite clubs to stay in control at the top. I wouldn’t mind it being anyone’s game and making it a level playing field. You see teams near the bottom having to sell players to meet PSR rules whilst Arsenal have a net spend of about £700m since Arteta took over but because they’ve loads of foreign fans who buy club merchandise it’s allowed. I don’t think it’s fair for what I call “proper” fans of clubs like ours who stick by their club through thick and thin irregardless of league position, financial status etc.
