Can't remember where or what thread it was but there was a discussion about Nunez and whether or not he's a Slot CF. Someone said he'd prefer someone that does the leg work and link up play for the wide players to exploit (a Bobby if you will). Does anyone else think Trent could play this role? He can drop deep, pick a pass with either foot and generally create. Wide stacking players would love having him in there and it would allow Bradley to play too (unless he ****ed off of course)
Didn't Southgate try that in an England game once? If I remember rightly he did alright but it wasn't strong opposition.
Not.a chance He's blowing out his arse after.60mins at rb. You have to have the engine Szoboszlai has
Could have done a Bale, Converted from an attacking FB to a full fledged winger. But of course you have Salah at RW. Think the issue with Trent is not that he can't defend, he just seems to pick and choose when he wants to show it. Although I do think he has a problem with defending balls in behind/over the top, which is ironic since that's what he's best at creating.
That's the issue, bale was not that good. Could have been a world class lb but ended up a guy with a bad back that real overpaid for and wasn't that interested in playing anyway. Trent just doesn't want to defend. That's about it. If he wanted to he'd learn the few basics that'd improve his gsme massively. Its not rocket science to get your body turned and make sure you are not caught up the park leaving a massive hole behind you. He is constantly square onto opponents and just walked by as he tries a gamble block and gets walked past then beacise he is squad he can't even turn so he doesn't even bother run back fast.
Sorry did you just say bale was not good? He was arguably the greatest British export. He was world class. He had absolutely everything for a period of 3/4 years. He walks into every team in world football.
Not "that" good That's what I said. He wouldn't walk into any team in world football for the last 5 years once he went to real he wasn't arsed to work. And his final couple of years he was semi retired.
He was brilliant for a while at Real! He was really badly treated there, he performed well, his numbers were great and for a time was playing better than Ronaldo. He supposedly slacked off towards the end, but on the pitch and in training he did everything asked of him, they just didn't start him because he wasn't seen as a galactico and didn't play the corporate bullshit game
Yes they are but one won a golden balloon and the other wasn't ever close (though it was a fix between two in fairness) I wouldn't have ever taken bale over mane for example but I'd have been all over a modric any day of the week. But then I prefer a player like that to a player like oh I dunno mascherano in the same way I like alonso better. Bale was good but never great, a runner and athlete who's back went. Great shot sure but for the same reason I rather a messi to a Ronaldo I never saw genius in bale.. I'd rather a pirlo or a modric to an Athletic player. You need that mix to complement each other yes but the inspirational players are rare.
He wasn't bad. Although the size of his nipples poking through his shirt was always a bit disturbing.
Another 10 days and the window opens. We have been linked with just about everyone. Assuming we have no more injuries between now what are your priorities? A CB, a left back and midfielder (#6) for me. Grav cannot play 70 games and Robbo…..well….we’ve all seen it…..forwards are all coming back fit now. I expect none but want 2 or 3. So a normal window for me then
I'm normally very much in the 'we won't sign anyone in January' camp but this one could be different; Slot's had time to work with the squad and assess what he has. We didn't really do anything in the summer either.
