Pandur is good enough, and has saved us many times this season, most importantly he’s ours. I can’t believe some of you would drop him for a loan player when we can develop Pandur even further?
It's not what you or I would do, it's what the club is likely to do. And I think he will come in and at the very least apply pressure on Ivor to retain his shirt. I can see the merit in freeing up funds to spend in areas of greater need,.but apparently there are funds from summer that went unspent so it might not be a priority. Who knows?
Common sense would be sticking with the player that we know is performing to a high level, which will hopefully make him improve even further, which in turn adds even more value to the player asset we own. Dropping him for a loan player in the middle of a relegation scrap where we don’t know if he’ll perform, and developing him for another club would be nonsense.
Developing young players usually comes with competition for places. Pandur is still a baby in keeper terms. Wont do him any harm at all to fight for his place at the current stage of his career. My only question would be whether or not Rushworth is a luxury we can afford, given the obvious lack of quality in other areas.
Its funny becasue im not even calling for any loanees to be starting Im just saying if a loanee is better than the starter They will play Simple
My mistake, I didn’t realise it would come down to the clubs decision instead of me or you. Thanks for clearing that up for me.
We do know Rushworth is one of the better keepers in the championship given his form previously. And you improve youngsters a lot of the time by providing them with competition for places. If Rushworth is better, given the position we're in you could just as equally argue we can't afford not to bring him in.
Why are some getting antsy about opinions on here then? Makes **** all difference. I'm not advocating a preference, just stating what I think the club will most likely do. Smartarse
Of course but dropping him for no reason just because we think Rushworth is the better player would be stupidity, anyway I doubt Pandur will be dropped for the rest of the season if he carries on his form. I think sending Rushworth back would make sense like you said for the loan spot and especially considering that the extra qualities that Rushworth is known for are not as important now Walter is gone.
Dropping him because we think Rushworth is better wouldn't be dropping him for 'no reason'. It would be because we felt we had a better keeper. That's football.
Of the 28 players we have I’m not sure there are many I’d want to keep. Probably wouldn’t even hit double figures.
There’s a feeling this boy will eventually play in the Premier League. It would be a great investment and perhaps someone who even this season could step ahead of Jones and McLoughlin.
This is probably the one Reading player we should move for. The only draw back is it’s another young player that may not be ready now but will be far better in 2 years like Hughes
All this Pandur vs Rushworth talk reminds me we've got Racioppi in the building somewhere. Have we given up on him? I know he dropped a bollock in his first (and only?) outing but is that it?
What's that saying ... 'if they're good enough, they're old enough !'. This lad has been getting rave reviews for his performances so far this season.
