Moyes would be brilliant appointment. I can't think for a minute he would want to join us though

I’d say Corberan has done significantly better than Jones or Martin in his career so far. Probably been the best manager in the Championship for the last couple of seasons. I think he would be the best appointment we could make. Whether or not it works out, who knows. Managers, like players, tend to fail more often than be successful regardless of previous history at other clubs. Recruitment in football, barring the absolute top managers/players (and even then it can go wrong), is a lottery

The odds are leading me to believe nobody has a bloody clue. And I include Sports Republic in that.

Hopefully that doesn’t mean a scorched earth “just get someone in” policy, but it gives weight to the folly of leaving it far too long. If they need to slender money right now, they really should do it. If the Rohl thing is about compo, I’ll be very annoyed.

Looks like they hadn’t even considered the possibility of replacing RM until the Spurs game.

    Which is baffling honestly.

Looking at Wikipedia for clubs prior to West Brom shows he's not been great. Absolutely dreadful for Olympiacos, mediocre for Huddersfield and only a 43.4% win rate for the baggies. He shouldn't even make the shortlist much less be a pick.

Nathan Jones (in his 2nd Season at Luton) 40.6% win rate
    Russell Martin 36.36 for Swansea.

They're all very similar managers in that they've not really achieved much, been at clubs a bit smaller than ourselves and most importantly are cheap. If this is the pond we're fishing in we may as well have kept Russ.

I didn't want to be the one to say it but every time someone mentioned that Corberan has done well at WBA/Hudds considering the small budgets, I couldn't help but think that is exactly what Jones did with Luton.

Meh it’s all opinions. Poch had a 31% win rate before he came to us, Adkins 41%, Pellegrino 38%, Koeman 58%, Puel 38% etc etc

Don’t think it’s the best thing to use to measure managers because there are so many things to consider. Koeman clearly stands out in that list, but he was managing Feyenoord who were one of the best teams in a weak overall league. Poch was managing one of the weaker sides in a strong league etc I’d argue 43% is good for a club like WBA and we’d be delighted with that sort of win rate in the PL

Corberan will get a chance at a club a step up from West Brom in the near future, might be us might be someone else. As I said before managers fail just as much as players and just because someone was good at one club is no guarantee they will be good elsewhere, so many variables with all of it that I’m not going to lose my **** over who we appoint until they’ve managed a few games

Corberan feels to me to be the equivalent of when we got Puel

He’s probably fine but he’s no-one’s first choice

What you've omitted though is the state of both Huddersfield and West Brom before Corberan took them over.

He took charge of Hudds after they had just escaped relegation to League One, and sacked their fourth manager in 2 seasons. He survived relegation in his first season, and in his second one took them a 3rd place finish, only losing the playoff final by a single goal (to Forest). That's impressive, come on.

At West Brom he took them over when they were bottom of the Championship (after 16 games), and by the end of the season they finished just one win from the playoffs. The following season they earned a comfortable playoff spot in 5th.

Compare that to Russ. He took over a Swansea team that finished 4th the previous season under Steve Cooper, and managed to finish bottom half, in 15th place. Marginally better the season after, they finished 10th.

Russell Martin and Lucy Pinder have just walked into Josie's cafe in Winch. Any messages you would like me to relay?
