Liverpool travel to Southampton for the QF of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday 18 December at 8pm Match available on Sky Sports. Expect to see some different faces in this one. Slot already hinted that Chiesa may make an appearance with youngsters Nyoni, Danns, Nallo and Norris also possibilities.
So my match prediction... We'll probably start with Kelleher, Gomez, Endo, Quansah, TAA, Morton, Nyoni, Gakpo, Macca, Elliot and Nunez. I'd probably put my money on Nunez to score the opening goal. Southampton will get at least one goal. Quite fancy Elliot to score today too!
Southampton to play like they top the table not us. The big man they had last game won't look like a donkey on ice floundering about in his own half. At least a hat trick for him.
Kellerher due to start, sounds like Endo as well. Jota won't start but may get minutes, Chiesa will hopefully play but not a full 90. Tsimikas close, bradley and Konate not training yet.
Sound ok. Get the **** out there and let them prove they are not totally **** after all. I presume macallister will play them all on his own anyway. I'd say he is desperate to play given he took 8 days off in the summer and is looking at about the same rest now.
There were rumours last week that Konate may be back earlier then expected he was supposedly out of his knee brace last week possibly back in Christmas period.
I'm looking forward to seeing Chiesa get some minutes . I still have - perhaps misplaced - high hopes for him, but I understand why some may have already written him off.
He copes with being left on his own to deal with a threat down our right better than anyone else. He's a bit handy with his hands though (pushing and shoving) and needs to be careful with that, imo.
Obviously, Italy is one of the great footballing nations, but Italians rarely seem to do well in England and rarely seem to have the fitness for the more physical game. I'm sure there are exceptions, but I'm not naturally optimistic about him, especially after seeing recent pictures where he doesn't exactly look like an athletic figure. I am of course still willing to be pleasantly surprised and he's one of ours, so of course I wish him well.
I heard Slot on this and he said he was looking to give Jota a run out tonight but after Sunday he felt a twinge so not being risked . So i wouldn't get too worried about it Really could do with Nunez having a good game and getting a couple for his own confidence.
