He was great at Boro because Carrick played to his strengths. Basically said you continue to play essentially as a wing back and the rest of the back 4 will cover. I would argue it’s possible here with moving Hughes back to the left side as he’s pretty good at defending in space. Maybe Selles spots it as an option given our lack of wide options right now.

Nail on head. He’s a wing back, he clearly can’t be arsed to defend and it shows. He doesn’t mind whipping in crosses though, they’ve been terrible for us too

We don't really give him much to aim at mind.

Blimey, if you think Giles’ effort is bit on the low side, strap in for Isaiah Jones - he’s allergic to tackling.

We won’t be playing Jones at full back if we do get him though, so people wouldn’t be quite as bothered if he’s a bit of a fanny when it comes to challenges. Full backs should still be able to get stuck in even if they’re attacking ones.

Jones would be a forward option I’d imagine.

Doesn't stop Kamara, and plenty before him, getting (unfairly imo) slated.
If Jones really is allergic to tackling, he will soon become the next in a long line to get slated.

Never seen Kamara commit to a tackle yet. He too often waits for the ball to come to him rather than going to the ball. That's not slating him, just my honest opinion from what I've seen thus far

Attackers shouldn’t tackle. Bring the beautiful game back!

You missed him running back 60yds to make a tackle in his own box a couple of games ago then?

Apparently so <laugh>. That notwithstanding, I still see him as too lightweight and not moving towards the ball enough. However, in the circumstances he is the best we have in that position at the moment and we just have to hope he plays himself into form.

Palmer wasn't at his best against Cov but that's not a reason to drop him when he's been the only creative spark in recent weeks.

It would be making changes for changes' sake.

He still needs to do a shift when we haven’t got the ball though. Which is more common under the new manager.

I do enjoy a big tackle from time to time. Though, not always from behind. Or one that causes an injury.
