Whatever happens, whenever it happens, they will always be remembered for the slavering welcome they gave to murderers.
I heard about 5 years ago when I worked in Newcastle that the Milburn stand had concrete cancer, supposed to be worse in the newer bit than the old bit.
You only have to walk under the stand, to the away entrance, to know there's something wrong ... ... it actually smells like there's decay. It's like when you walk into a long abandoned building and it hits you.
Interesting that mate, that's also broadly in line with what the structural lads told me, they were a bit more specific in terms of some additional items that I won't raise on here but they have issues there and some of them will be difficult/expensive to fix if they can be fixed at all. Pity that. My heart absolutely ****ing bleeds for them, not.
The Mags just don't know what to say or think any more. They daren't overdo the 'cathedral on the hill' shyte, and claim they never want to leave, in case the Saudis say they have to. But they can't say they want a new 'state of the art' Super Stadium in case the Saudis won't give them one. So they're stuck in 'no-mans land' keeping their heads down. One day they'll realise the cathedral on the hill is actually just a tatty old ground on a slight incline.
Its pretty funny seeing them squirm tbh mate. The current contract I am on has a some senior staff who claim to be Mags, one of whom is very senior and is from Devon, apparently he became a Newcastle fan as a result of working with a Mag when he first got into construction. My bullshit deflector was in overdrive with him and he was later joined by a South American lad who seems to think that because I'm a Sunderland fan, all I'll want to ever talk about is the Mags. They thought it was a giggle to tease me about our ground being built on the site of Wearmouth pit. Smirks and knowing winks disappeared sharpish when I gave them a precis of the impending structural problems at the **** tip. These two ****ers don't even go to the games I might add....
I'm usually quite reserved with this kind of banter but I can tell, by my reaction, that I'd go full tilt with these people. It's a wonderful privilege for Sunderland supporters to watch their team on the land where their ancestors toiled underground at the side of a river where their men built massive ships ... ... while Newcastle play on a piece of council ground, loaned to them free, that they'll never ever be allowed to own. Not knowing the history of Sunderland is one thing ... ... being totally unaware of the history of their own club is inexcusable.
Oh I didn't even bother to venture into that territory mate. It would have been way over either of their heads. A like for like re potential structural issues, hints about still to be closed out HMRC issues sufficed. Not been so chatty recently mind. I will be having a word about that team photo after beating Leicester mind....
I enjoy looking back at Sunderland over the decades and love team photos after cup wins and promotions .. ... but ffs, a team photo after beating a relegation candidate to end up bottom half of the table. People, in a hundred years time, will look back and think wtf
I tend to avoid going anywhere near the dump as much as possible, even when I worked in Newcastle, though last summer me and a couple of mates drunkenly pissed on the east stand/leazes stand bit on a night out for a laugh... Maybe we've contributed to the decay?!?
Are the richest club in the world having money problems.......? https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/f.../Newcastle-stars-image-rights-agent-fees.html
Talking to my friend who does work for someone connected to Newcastle. He's been told a Saudi club has approached Man Utd about buying Rashford who'd then be 'loaned' to Newcastle ... ... he doubts they could make it work, or dare do it, but questions have been asked. The chap who's telling me this isn't impressed but can't say anything. I'm guessing he'd like the word to get out which is why he's told me. He knows I have a big mouth and like to exercise it
Not sure why you were meant to be embarrassed by the stadium being built on a historic site that will have connection with the working class man that attends football still in our city! We are yet to be replaced by tourists like some clubs. Not only that building on that site enabled the ground to built in quite a revolutionary way at the time that meant it cost a fraction of what stadiums that size normally would. Yeah they got you there mate you mustn't have known where to hang your head!
When The SSoL was built, I was working in S.Shields. The staff were about 50/50, S/Lnd and N/C. There were some of the N/C Fans who came out with the sarcasm anout 'The Pits' and so on. I suggested that they go up to Ashington and see how well such talk goes down there. Or any former Pit Village in The Noth East. Or perhaps just look to their own Family History.
Pal of mine, one of them, swears blind they signing Gyokeres and keeping Isak ‘cos thEy’re beStiEs LeEk’. Spending £100mill when they can’t pay agents fees and player bonuses, and there **** tip stadium is collapsing from the top down. Seems likely…
