I think talkSPORT initially said our shortlist was three managers, all foreign and two out of work In which case would make sense for it to be Rohl, Hjumland, Juric
Yeah. It's probably a wum. The only thing I will say is that he's gone to a lot of effort to make himself look genuine, more than most trolls.
Eirik Horneland, who's just resigned from Brann, is in talks with Saint Ettiene and is considering 'interesting offers from elsewhere'... https://www.footmercato.net/a2051787680794015518-asse-ca-se-precise-pour-eirik-horneland
Any prospective Manager would be wise to research the recent correspondence posted on Saints Social Media, would probably give us a wide berth, unless they have very thick skin, or like a true challenge..
As a long-term appointment I agree, but I do just wonder if he is the next manager. I'd worry about Danny getting stuck in the snowball and taking too many hits (esp with fans) before reaching next season If Hjumland was willing to come in until the summer initially, with no compensation due, I would find that pretty appealing and it would allow us to keep our options open for the summer.
I think if any of these supposed targets are willing to join with an initial contract until the end of the season, then they'll get the job. SR will be desperate to avoid a repeat of the cost of sacking 2 managers in 1 season and this allows them to avoid that. Then if the new guy doesn't cut the mustard, we don't renew the contract and hire Rohl in the Summer to get us promoted.
Does leave the door open for other clubs with any manager we want. Will be other clubs looking for managers in the summer and someone like Rohl may have (better) options. I wonder if some deal can be done now with Rohl to come in at the end of the season, and we go caretaker route til then, probably impossible
I don't understand waiting for the summer for Rohl. We'll still have to pay his compensation, and by then there will probably be 3 or 4 other clubs after him.
It depends, while I definitely understand the logic, if the club has a defined long term target they need to go for them now because you can’t predict what will happen later. Unfortunately there is always an element of risk in football, you can’t hold off long term decisions because they might not work out.
I understand what everyone is saying but I think in the 'honest behind-the-scenes football world' the manager will come in and say 'Look you are relegated this is about next season', I once saw a documentary on a club, can't remember which one, and the new manager, who got the job, said exactly that when he came in. If you say to a good manager, I mean they will think they are good it goes with the territory, that he has until the end of this season then we'll think about it, unless he is skint and is up to his eyeballs in debt he is going to say two words, the second one will be 'off'.
Rohl will be in demand this summer I think,so if he is number 1 target, SR probably have to do the deal now. Salzburg have just sacked their manager which could be a good move for Rohl? Been reported that he is taking training today at Sheffield Wednesday.
