I'm really not getting excited by the Kasper Hjulmand rumours at all.

Will be gutted if we don't go for Rohl, if these are the two main contenders.

Why did we not replace Wilcox? This is probably a separate topic, but this is giving me vibes of no proper football man in charge and different wannabe football big wigs picking their own guys and waving dicks to decide who gets the final say. AKA we're re-living the Ankerson and Jones vs Semmens and Selles ****show all over again. It might well be nothing like that, but it just kind of feels like that to me, and the lack of a proper director of football fuels this.

Likewise. Only way it makes sense is if he’s on a short deal to end of season, then we go for Rohl after the inevitable relegation.

I think that if RM had had someone with experience who he could talk with, someone to mentor him we could have had a very different outcome. Question for me though is whether he would’ve listened to another.

Very few great managers did it without a confidante. Clough was less effective without Taylor, even greats like Busby ( had Murphy) and Shankly (had Paisley) had someone who they could bounce ideas off and who spoke truth to them.

So have we been given permission to speak to him, or is this just speculative BS?

To me (and don't hold me to this, I'm just guessing), it sounds like Saints are sounding out Rohl's camp to see how interested he is in the job before they go through the compensation situation with Sheff Weds. Plettenberg is a German journalist, so is more likely to get his sources from Rohl's camp then either Saints or Sheffield Wednesday.

I’d have thought that just might be on the mind of any applicant?

From the noises so far my guess is Hjulmand is the back up if Rohl doesn’t want the job now.

I saw some article with West Brom journo saying Corberan wouldn’t be interested now with the inevitable relegation and West Brom still in with a chance of promotion this year. Rohl may feel the same and that he can get Wednesday into a playoff place this year.

Situation looks very different when we go down and neither Wednesday or West Brom go up and we need a manger in the summer (although Corberan allegedly turned Leeds down before they got Farke he has prior with them though as he was Bielsa’s assistant/U21 manager or something)

Agree with this. Would appear that Rohl is our preferred choice but an approach will only be made if he signals that he wants to come. Similar to when bids go in for players as most of the time they’ve been sounded out through their agents.
Guess the other thing SR will have will be the agents of managers, who will contact them about the job, so that could delay things a little as well.

This is another issue with SR and their decisions. They’ve left it so long now and we’re so in the ****ing mud that why would you leave a potential play off position for basically a guaranteed relegation?

This is why Russ should have gone weeks ago. Every week they waited was another 3 points a new manager couldn’t get. And now you’re essentially asking them to not lose the rest of the season to stay up.

When you really break down SRs decisions since their takeover they’ve been absolutely ****e. They’ve arguably picked the wrong decision every time. Jones, Selles and in my opinion Martin were all terrible appointments. And other than maybe a couple, the signings have all been mediocre.

I agree, apart from the “don’t lose the rest of the season bit to stay up”

I think they know we are down and are looking to next season so a new manager won’t be judged on survival. If the new manager comes in and only gets like 10 points or something then that may mean they don’t go into next season in charge, but we’ll have to wait and see.

It is a bleak situation for a manager to come into. I don’t buy this “free hit for rest of season, chance to have a go at PL, judge the squad and plan for next season” narrative. They will be coming into a demoralised, weak squad. The decent players are probably already thinking about next season and leaving and there will be an expectation for a decent upturn in results even if it doesn’t mean survival. Doesn’t sound too appealing to me if you are already in a job where you are doing well

Another one who has been linked before. Think we wanted him after getting rid of Ralph/Jones.

Was gonna say I bet Juric will be in contention - previously approached, Serbian, out of job, overseas.
