I’m not buying into the “Dibling will be going in the summer” rhetoric. I think his move to Chelsea was quite traumatic for him, hence the reason why BOTH clubs acted so quickly to return him to the Saints. I’m not suggesting that he has a mental health issue but the way he carries himself makes me think he is an introvert who feels most comfortable around people and environments where he’s relaxed. RM citing his parents as wanting his new contract sorted also suggests that they still play a big part in his life and that they want what they think is best for him. Maybe he just needs a new agent.
I agree with this. He'll go at some point and it might be this summer but I don't think that's a nailed-on certainty. I'm sure people at the club and others around him will be reminding him of what happened with Chelsea and highlighting the struggles someone like Luke Shaw had after moving to Manchester.
The key will be who he moves to/how important a role he is going to play there. Can’t really compare a 16 year old moving to a different academy who have loads of players so he felt a bit lost and no personal touch, to a player who would be featuring regularly in the first team. As I’ve said before our hope is that we want a fee that teams who he would be playing regularly for can’t afford and he decides he doesn’t want a move to a big team to barely play. The problem with the first bit is his contract only having 2 years and how much we would ask for him, depending on that could bring all the mid table PL sides into the equation where you’d think he would see plenty of playing time
I’m sure he’ll sign a new contract, he’ll be on relatively low pay and makes sense to be paid more now. Maybe the agent is looking for a release clause, but our history of selling should come into its own as a counter to that demand
I really hope he signs an extension. He is the one positive in what is the worst season I remember. Martin is so bad it makes Branfoot football look entertaining
I get the feeling & impression that Dibling just wants to play football at this stage in his career. I can’t see him going to one of the big 6 after the Chelsea experience he had and sounds like his parents are trying to ground him a lot too. If Villa or Brighton come in I could defo see a move happening, more game time will be promised and they’re just generally a more of a “family club”, but doubt they’d be forking out for him. Who knows though… probs end up at Utd
Oh great, another opportunity for SR to waste money on dross. I'd rather we have nothing to spend than waste millions more on ****e by the clowns.
