Was away at the weekend so it's took me a while to cast an eye over the whole of this thread but here goes. From 5 past 3 to 3.25 ish covering three and a half pages of RTBs wonderful thread whilst our young lads were struggling 'fan's ' were slagging off in no particular order, Patto, Ballard, Jobe, Mayenda, Rigg, Reggie, have I missed anyone out?. How quick people are to jump on any mistake, be it a misplaced pass, a keepers hesitancy, a clumsy challenge then less than an hour later and villainous players go from zero to hero. I know being a fan is very emotive but can I ask that some take a deep breath and try and give their team a break now and again before launching into vitriol which the internet makes so easy. What these lads achieved on Saturday was truly special, to turn it round with almost 20 minutes left and then stay in front on the back of 3 games in a week speaks volumes for the spirit these lads have. These goal and after match celebrations will spur these kids onto greater things if we as fans just give them a chance. Right rant over OaU, HTL.
Got to agree Cumbrian. I was one of those fans questioning RLB’s tactical nous after we went 0-2 down. But in my defence once the game was over I did issue an apology on here with the realisation that I know nothing about our beautiful game.
You mean the game went past 17 minutes? Bloody hell man, I read on here it was game over after 17 minutes, thought my stream was miles behind, so turned it off.
In the past, Sunderland sides have collapsed after a start like that. The lads we have now (and RLB) are made of different stuff.
With some of the lads on here we are lucky to get the ball out of the centre circle at kick off before they are getting ripped to shreds, they do this every game so I can’t see anything changing.
Fear not mate. You're among many thousands of people who absolutely love this club and which,in their lifetime,has rewarded that love with a single trophy. During that time there have been too many false dawns to count, and too many 5-0 defeats away from home after being 2-0 down in the first 20 mins.That's typically when the knives come out.....not at the match,but the internet makes things very easy and Saturday was no different. To dispel these doubts,we will need to achieve something. FWIW, I think we're on the way to a very bright future......I'm loving watching this team. I do have issues with the home fan atmosphere.....disappointed with a lot of what I see.
Honestly despite being utterly gutted when their second went in, I never thought once to blame the manager, you can say Patto should have been out a tad quicker for the first but the freekick beats pretty much any keeper around and was little to do with tactics and more to do with individual errors (giving away the freekick) and just bloody good technique on the part of the player. There are so many variables in football it is hardly ever a mathematical equation and that is why our nation is a football one. Sunderland captain Dan Neil said he is beginning to show his true form after admitting to a slow start to the season. The midfielder scored the equaliser on Saturday as the Black Cats came from 2-0 down to win 3-2 at Swansea. "All three of my performances this week have been a lot better - (I'm) trying to be on the front foot and take the game by the scruff of the neck," he told BBC Radio Newcastle. "I know deep down I didn't start the season well - footballers know when they are playing well and when they're not but for me its about sticking to the processes and my routine. Eventually you rise up and start playing better and I think that's starting to show now." Neil's comments come after recent criticism from some sections of the Sunderland support but the 23-year-old says it has taken him time to adjust under new boss Regis Le Bris, having been handed the team captaincy. I'm really pleased about those comments. I felt the same about his form and that the captaincy was affecting him ... ... it's good to know I was seeing things the same as Neil. And I agree that he's now made a change to his game that's really making a difference. Of course his deeper role means he has a specific job to do but that never meant staying in our half, Evans was always making forward runs and getting shots on goal. I think people have been excusing his poor form, because of his position, a little too much tbh. He ran the game at Swansea and has shown the first sparks of real captaincy in the last few games imo ... ... just a thought but is that because Luke O'Nien hasn't been so much involved
That may be a decent point. O'Nien has a big personality on and off the pitch and no doubt he'll be involved in the "leadership group". More than likely they would've had a chat at the start of the season about things but it would've been down to Dan Niel to actually show that he's the captain on the pitch. Hopefully he's now starting to do that
