Except for yesterday we have never this season been under the cosh with our backs to he wall like we were on many occassions with Shota. So I agree we are not a bottom of the league basket case. In most games we have had most of the possession we just cant score for toffee. Plus we give the ball away to much since our passing is shocking. Re the number 6 its a real shame we lost Zambrano when he came on at QPR I thought he was so good and that we had a world beater on our hands.

Cannot get over how bad he was yesterday. He ****ed up about 4/5 good positions, didn’t make a tackle and yet he plays the full 90. I understand the notion of wanting players who’ll run through brick walls for us at this stage, but they still need to contribute something

That measure of quality is utterly ridiculous. Slater isn’t playing especially well, no one is, but using khis yellow card count as a stick to beat him with is bonkers. He is one of the few players that is actually giving his all at the moment, he is nowhere near our biggest problem or even a problem at all.

Although, of course, he does stand behind opposition players so he can avoid getting the ball *eye roll*

I don't think the problem is so much the players as the recruitment. The so called "brains team" seemed to have recruited a collection of players who all lack pace, physicality, the ability to tackle and the ability to score goals. You can shuffle the pack of what we've got, and it makes no difference because of what we lack. I think we need to ask Selles what he wants then give him it. Failure to do so should result in removal of the fools in the brains team.

Can’t blame the players. It was all Timmy Walter’s fault. We’ll surely fly up the table now he’s gone.

I dont think you need to be a rocket scientist to work out that our squad isn't what we all hoped it would be, there's gaping holes all over the park, but there's also the ridiculous tactics employed by Walter that fanned the flames. Selles has a hard job right now, not only to get this unit upto so.ething which could possibly compete, but also restore the fragile confidence that has disappeared from them because of the crap set of results. I'm not throwing in the towel yet though, as bad as yesterday was we witnessed a marked improvement on Wednesday, if he can somehow scrape some points through to January and get a few decent players in then I think we could be OK. We only need to be better then 3 other teams, over the course of the full season, but it's not gonna be easy. Keep the faith !

Slater is a good squad member when he isn't at the forefront of the team and someone who is needed to contribute with goals and assists (which is bizarre given we have seen has got a decent shot on him).

The issue is last year he was a good piece to have in the XI to do the hard yards which allowed some of the better players to flourish. Now he is technically one of the better players is the issue. It also doesn't help he's had a **** run of form.

Just a thought. Even if Jones comes back in, McLoughlin will know he'll always be needed to cover for Hughes when he's suspended. Hughes may be a very good player but the number of bookings is ridiculous.

Think we are gonna have to do something drastic. Like cancelling all the loans bar maybe Rushworth. Sell Omar, Longmen and McLaughlin maybe, maybe a couple more.

    We need serious surgery.

In a summer window this is worth doing. I fear in January so much change does nothing constructive in the short term

That's what we did with McCann and that's where we ended up.

On paper its easy when you type sell this player and sell that one, the reality is, we have to find buyers, cant see them queueing up for any of ours at the minute

Just let their contracts run out but phase them out. If we’re still a Championship team come next summer, the likes of Coyle, Slater, Jones, McLoughlin etc. should be squad players. Make Hughes team captain. Can’t go another season with this lot starting most league games.

    Thats true
Their massive flaws were less exposed when the team was full of better players

Without them... then look where we are
