It seems reasonable to let him go to Sheffield Utd. At 35 he has probably seen the best of his playing days. A young(er) striker to replace him would be ideal, but it depends on (as usual) finances. Sargent should be back in the new year or earlier.
What it depends on is that the player we've scouted and decided fits our profile is available. As Thorup said, given our objectives, we need to make use of every transfer window, including this January, but there won't be any short-term "solutions" to short-term problems.
And one has contributed absolutely nothing in six of our last nine games and won't contribute anything in the next two either -- needlessly and avoidably.
The Middlesborough challenge was on the edge and I think a reasonable case could be made for a yellow or red, we were pushing for a winner and he made an over zealous challenge. The extra ban for calling the ref a "**** at his job and a useless ****" is needless. This latest ban is bullshit, there is no way that anyone can make a definitive decision about the intentions of his movement to give him a 4 game ban, many sit on either side of the argument but I believe the majority think it is wrong (not just because thats what I believe). There have been far worse, far more deliberate "challenges", if we can even call it that, that have gone unpunished. The ref was standing a few metres away and didn't give anything.
Now Gunn has been charged by the FA for an incident in the tunnel. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cgq1n3g7vdpo.amp
Apparently we're close to a £4m deal on Brazilian LB Marlon: https://sportwitness.co.uk/norwich-...-deal-on-table-club-waiting-for-formal-offer/
Attanasio has said that funds are available in this window. This, if true, would back that up. Would this mean Doyle being returned to sender?
Doyle is the backup left footed CB who can also play at LB. If Marlon does sign, he would likely need some time to learn the tactics and adjust to the Championship.
Would be good to give the new guy time to settle in whilst Doyle is only here on loan. It took the likes of Sara 6months to get up to speed. This way he can be dropped in and out knowing that we have Doyle and Chrisene there and then be ready to kick on next season
Marlon would seem to be a false rumour: https://insidefutbol.com/2024/12/18...sider-linked-star-to-be-active-target/668160/
Having watched some highlights of him he appeared to be a very offensive minded left back and quite rash in the challenge
Egil Selvik, an international goalkeeper playing for Haugeslund is being touted for a free transfer to us. Norwegian DD, so all the other Norwegians will welcome him.
