I've gone Pellegrino. Of the other obvious candidates: Branfoot was before my time Jones never given a proper chance imo Wigley at least got his only win against the skates Find it hard to blame the championship relegation guys
This has made me realise that I always have issues with whoever is managing the club Honestly the only manager i can think of that I actually quite like was Poch, every other manager had something I didn’t like about them I feel like Lincoln
Nigel Adkins literally did no wrong in his time at the club. Two promotions and had us on course for survival in the Prem.
Yeah but he was such an annoying bell end in interviews wasn’t he? With all his relentless positivity and life coach quotes
RM ain't ever topping thus list for me; he gave me one of the best days supporting this club and nothing will ever change that. Jones was a twat. He's top of the pile, closely followed by Pellegrino. Always find it hard to see the likes of Portvliet and Wotte on these lists as they had such an impossible job.
At least under Russell Martin we had an amazing winning streak in the Championship. Nathan Jones was just utter turd from the get-go.
No. Not for me. That might be some weird contrarian take that became popular after he left, but at the time we all adored him.
I can assure you that I didn’t. Obviously did a great job on the pitch so didn’t want him sacked or anything like that but I could never listen to him talk without cringing Clearly never going to be on this list, just as I say made me realise that the only manager I could tolerate all aspects of was Poch, that’s all
While I couldn't vote for him as before my time surely Branfoot has to be one of the strongest contenders? He benched Le Tiss FFS.
Branfoot was before my time. This is still quite easily Jones for me. If we stick with Martin, and break the record, then despite having also achieved something with us last season, he’ll take the crown for me.
Yeah, it's been very poor this season but at least he has achieved something and is in the club record books plus a 45% win ratio still. I just think he's trying something that isn't possible in the PL with this squad of players. It has to be Pellegrino for me because he had a decent mid-table PL squad and turned them into strugglers playing the most dull and unambitious football that I can ever remember from a Saints team. Maybe my memory of Branfoot has got dimmer over time and there was a Wembley cup final and his win % was nearly 30 but he was very unpopular and signed some real donkeys.
It's a funny world where people think the manager that took us on our longest unbeaten run in history is also the worst manager in our history.
Yeah you can make a case I think of this being our worst season/spell under a manager. But given how many **** ones we’ve had down the years Martin shouldn’t be in the conversation for his overall time in charge
Don’t EVER let Mrs S know where you live She will come round cut you open and feed you on your own entrails … and I wouldn’t stop her
If you actually look at Branfoot's record, his first two seasons don't look all that bad. Certainly no worse than Chris Nicholl before him. Also weird, is that we finished 7th in 89/90 on 55 points (under Nicholl), but then a couple of season later (under Branfoot), we finished 16th on 52 points!!
