Ok so we know we have an issue with a CB needed.

Alex has just handed in a transfer request and for me it would make perfect sense to try and either sign him or loan him till the end of the season.

It would be a chance for him to showcase his skills and solves part of our problem.

Hes 29 so on the older side but feck me we need someone of his ability.

    Thoughts?

Wages too high, no sell on value, loses concentration at times and isn't near as good as he used to be

This. Plus I would guess at his age he'll want regular football and I don't think he's better than either Colo or Saylor.

Would try get him on loan, he would be 2nd best fit CB at the club. Not hard considering our shortage mind.

Well if Saylor is out for the season then he's going to get a lot of game time.

He'll be on massive wages and we wont match them.

We'll either sign a young french player or someone from the Championship (probably Ridgewell) in January IMO.

I think we should go for one of Hummels, Vidic or Pique <whistle>

I'd definitely have him but his wages will be far too high.

    Lacks pace... <whistle>

I haven't seen much of Alex recently, not sure if he's went downhill much but he was very good a couple of seasons ago. Although as said, wages would likely be a stumbling block.

Anelka wants out as well. I'd take him on loan, wouldn't happen though.

If he's earning below our wage cap (unlikely) we should definitely enquire IMO. He's more than competent and crucially has experience of the PL.

This. I think a loan with a view to a perm deal would be perfect with Saylor being out for the whole season now. :(

Good idea, Chelsea may even partially subsidise it if they're desperate to get rid of him.
