INJURY RUNDOWN PRE SWANSEA Regis Le Bris has confirmed that Tommy Watson will face a two-month recovery after sustaining a "knee and ankle" injury against Bristol City and discussed the potential options to replace the youngster on the left wing. RLB also gave a positive update on Ian Poveda and Salis Abdul Samed, who have both struggled massively with injuries since arriving in the summer. TWO MONTHS FOR TOMMY “It should be two months to recover properly, with his ankle and his knee. It was a big impact, he could’ve scored, but at the end it was not a very strong injury, but enough to be out of the pitch for two months. Tommy did well, and started very well with the team. Now he has to wait, so it’s a part of the journey and the career to be faced with these problems, especially in the Championship with massive intensity in duels, and when you have to repeat games, it’s obviously risky." COULD HAVE BEEN WORSE "He needs time to recover now. It’s only two months, it could’ve been worse, because sometimes you can be faced with a six-month injury, and it’s really different. It’s just a reminder that everything is fragile.” SAMED/POVEDA CLOSE "Salis is on the way. I think this week was eleven of 11 of his recovery programme, so it should be around one week more before he is ready to join us in full training. So I'm hopeful he will be ready for the team at the beginning of January. Ian trained with us this [Thursday] morning, so he should be ready very quickly." MAYENDA ON THE WING "With Eliezer, he has to understand that he has an extra power. He's very strong, very quick and when he plays as a nine the main action he has to manage is a little bit different. When you are a left-footed player on the right wing you have different options. When you are on the left, it is different again. He just needs to spend time in that position to find out what he is able to do and to build that conviction. It's about experiences and more experiences. He has many good qualities to play in this position, but it is a different style of play. It will be more about pushing outside and crossing than driving inside, which is harder for a left footer on this side. It's just a question of time." KEEP WILSON CENTRAL "Even if at the moment he is less clinical, he is very important to the team. Many runs in behind, always connected with the team, he has improved on the defensive side as well. Even when he doesn't score, he is important to the team [through the middle]. He has the confidence of the team and my confidence as well. He has scored goals with more difficult chances earlier in the season so it is a matter of time."
Id be tempted to play Cirkin on the Left wing with Alese continuing at LB. At least we'd have the right balance with a natural Left footer whos used to playing out wide.
Not for me. It’s not the same job at all imo and cirkin would be wasted and poor there. I’d like to go Mayenda and let him learn it then we have poveda coming back to fitness too
Yeah fair enough just throwing a few ideas around in my head, because we're pretty much stuck with what we have now till Jan, god forbid anymore injuries..
Wilson left with Mayenda though the middle for me. I would predict it'll be the other way around though, or possibly even Mayenda right, Wilson middle, Roberts left. Real shame Mayenda got injured, I think he'd have that spot in the centre nailed down by now.
He played 1 game there and while he wasn't great in that game, I think it suits his attributes better than through the middle. I can understand preferring Mayenda wide under the circumstances though, he's looked good there last few games. Longer term though I think Mayenda is the better option in the middle. Decisions to be made when we have Mundle and poveda back, I guess.
Not sure how anybody could no inside info like that so soon, but its a possibility because hes back in full training now apparently
Wouldn't surprise me. Probably will need some transition to the squad and being involved in the routines. He will be needed over the Xmas period so get him familiar asap. Needs to earn his crust and not look like he is about to break down anytime he bursts into a sprint.
Sooner him in the bench with no prospect of playing than Rusyn. At least Poveda might have a part to play in the weeks to come. Rusyn made me mad the other night at half time when he stood on the pitch doing keepy ups, away from the other lads warming up. Rubbish body language imo.
He often does/did that in the u21 games. Just looked lost and not part of the group. I wouldn't judge him too hard on that
Probably because he knows he has no future here and has been banished all season. It's been pretty mad to see him being ignored.
I really hope so. He was a stand out player for Sheff Wed last season. We're yet to see any sniff of that
We’ve done well at reigniting wingers careers fingers crossed he can be the next in line, not confident like but happy to be proven wrong
I just cant stop thinking of Bradley Dack. Another out of shape right winger we all had high expectations for
