We’re only a point behind Portsmouth, but they currently sit in 21st position with 17 points from 18 games. We’ve also played more games than all the teams around us, except QPR who are 19th and on 21 points. By the time we’re all on the same game count it most likely won’t be a single point.

Key to our survival chances will be beating the likes of Plymouth, Oxford, QPR and Portsmouth when we play them again

Enjoyed the game, nice to see the atmosphere lifted, scoring seemed a massive relief but it was deserved, However shame we couldn’t hold out, again I strive on about clean sheets because we hardly ever seem to score more than one goal meaning to win football matches we are going to have to stop that ball going into our net, Early days, new beginning let’s hope last nights point is the start of many.

Yes, he should have scored but to my knowledge that’s only the third chance he’s had, got all three on target and scored one. Just needs a bit more game time to get some confidence for me.
Promising that he’s getting in those positions.

There was a clear improvement in the way we set up and the way we played last night. FACT.

The squad will be improved with additions in January. FACT.

There's over half a season left for us to move up the table. FACT.

The manager's made a difference in just a few days, he'll make further improvements once he's given more time and the tools to do his job, we'll be fine.

I’m worried now. You didn’t put FACT after the last paragraph!

No, but there’s no point in aiming for a points total in my eyes - especially one based on previous years when it can vary so much - just in the last 2 seasons the difference was 2 wins.

I think we should be aiming to be out of the bottom 3 as soon as possible - you don’t want to get entrenched there. But a win on Saturday and that’s done. We are far from cut adrift.

From getting out of the bottom 3 we need to stay out of it - rather than aim for a points total.

Playoff form is pretty much winning 1 out of every 2 games with the other game being split between draws and defeats.

I've just crunched some numbers with the help of chat GPT and don't think we need that type of form at all. We actually need the very realistic target that is probably mid table form(roughly) of 1 win 1 draw and 1 defeat. With the remaining games we have left we would get 8 cycles of that leaving us on 48 pts with 2 extra games to play to add on top of that total.

I actually think 48pts would be enough to stay up this year, I also think we are very capable of doing better than 1W 1D and 1L.

You'd like to think if last nights game was in a couple of weeks time we'd have managed to secure the win. I'm cautiously optimistic.

In my working days I was a production shift manager and over the years gave my fair share of bollockings; what I've never done though is to rip somebody a new one in front of the team/shift - they were always done face to face. Singling someone out of the crowd for a rocket just makes you look a **** and inspires the rest of the team not one jot.
