Everybody knows his shortcummings, you just hope he gives more than u expect. At the moment I dont think he gives us anymore than routledge did.
He has been so unlucky this season, close to having a bunch of goals. Good engine, tracks back an wins free kicks (need a set-piece specialist badly). He will finish with 6-8 goals this season. Bothroyd has been poor.
DJ for me, but only because he hasn't been available;the few times he has played he was exciting and gave us something extra. SWP has been very good overall; he is the one the opposition mention when they talk about our attacking options and his goal yesterday was sensational. I don't understand the criticism of him; what would we have to offer without him??!!
Bothroyd has the technical ability to hold the ball very well and can distribute the game and he is not an easy guy to get the ball from when he's got it. Problem is he is up there with Helguson who has no speed but is very strong in the air and scores important goals right now. Bothroyd would flourish more with a speedy guy like DJ playing around him or a very talented technical player, shame Tarbs does not live up to his full capacity in the PL.
SWP without a doubt for me. You asked who's been the most dissapointing and it has to be him because he hasnt played at anywhere near the level we know he can. Yesterday for example, everyone wil talk about his goal that should have stood but what about the 2 open goals he missed or the number of times our counter-attacks were halted because he froze on the ball and backtracked or even the occasions when he did finally decide to take on a player, he did it just outside our box and almost gave away a goal. Bothroyd hasnt been bad but he hasnt been great but he isnt our most dissapointing player so far because he's playing exactly how I expect him to play. As for teams saying the attacking player they fear is SWP, that is purely based on his previous history. If the watched any of our games this season they'd see that Faurlin, Mackie and Helguson are the only 3 that have dominated whoever they've played against and most of our goals stem from them.
SWP - expected a lot more. Seems to lack conviction, which would be forgivable if he was a young, inexperienced player. Not the worst player we have signed but for me the most disappointing. In fact watching him just makes me appreciate why has never really prospered in bigger squads with more competition for places and to be frank has ended up with us as an emergency signing. Can only assume Puncheon must be pretty terrible to not be challenging him for a place.
It has to be Adel - although of course not actually signed in the summer, when he didn't leave, this was met at the time with the same joy as if we'd signed a great player - sadly he's yet to deliver
Its a bloody shame that because his quality is far superior. Him and Barton could do a lot more given their respective ability. But for me its Bothroyd. I can't stand lazy cu*ts on a football pitch given their insane salaries.
Puncheon...then Bothroyd, who is so lazy and the play completely slows down when the ball reaches him. If we're to continue to play 4-4-2 (which I'm not convinced is the way to go) I'd like to see DJ playing around HH. How many times does HH win the ball in the air, only for it to go to a defender, with none of the other players getting in and around him?
can't believe we're having this debate with a relatively new team. maybe this discussion should take place at end of season.
