As Simmo has played as a CB I can see this lineup.

    RB: Santon
    CB: Simmo
    CB: Perch
    LB: Raylor

Is Tav still out on Loan, what about Kadar?

    Thoughts?

  2. I like the idea of that. I know Simmo and Santon aren't CB's but it's best to keep a set of players with the highest chemistry. Lets face it, Raylor and Simmo are average fullbacks but our defense is one of the best because of the chemistry and spirit shared between the players.

I think that back like will need a lot of support from the rest of the team but I think it can get the job done.

Agree, I'd be ok with that lineup. Especially if Tiote is back to give added protection.

My personal line-up IF Tiote's back..

    3-4-3 :

    Krul
    Simpson Perch Santon
    Obertan Cabaye Tiote* Guti
    Ben Arfa
    Best - Ba

*Tiote playing a deeper defensive role than usual to help the defence AND I might be tempted to play Raylor at RM because of his work-rate and his tracking back same with Guti.

We all know this probably won't happen but I'll like to see it..

    hmmmmm....

    yep <laugh>

Pardew would never be ambitious enough to attempt 3-4-3! The only team I know who play it are Barcelona, and we're not quite up to that standard yet ;)

Didn't they only have 2 proper defenders on the pitch on Saturday night? <laugh>

  8. **** no!!!

That back like would get raped by the likes of Dyer and Routledge.... yes.... even Routledge!!!

    We need our 4 defenders.

    If Tiote is back -

    ------------------------Ba-------------------------------

    Jonas---------------------------------------------Obertan

    -----------Guthrie---------------Cabaye---------------

    ----------------------Tiote----------------------------

    Santon--------Perch---------Simpson---------------Raylor

    ---------------------Krul--------------------------------

    If no Tiote

    ------------------------Ba---------------------------------

    ------------------------------HBA-------------------------

    Jonas-----------------------------------------------Obertan

    ------------Guthrie----------------------Cabaye----------------

    Santon----------Perch--------------Simpson------------Raylor

    ---------------------Krul--------------------------------

Yep, and Jonas will be back and raring to go.

One of the best things about our wings, if they arent that effective going forward, is that Obertan and Gutierrez work really hard to track back and help out, which is why it is important that we get a fullback like Pieters in Jan so we can push teams onto the back foot a little. Part of me thinks that is one of the reason that Obertan doesnt use his speed as he doesnt want to get too far ahead and leave Simmo exposed.

I suppose the silver lining is that Norwich (good as they are) will not provide the same test as the likes of Silva, Rooney and Mata, to make the best of a bad situation, Willo is a few weeks away and hope Colo will be back soon to get us through to January.

HMT, Id say keep Raylor at LB as Jonas covers him well, who knows how he would linkup with Gabby on the right

Simpson is like 5'7, we'll get totally raped in the air.

Santon is a better choice purely for his height.

  12. I agree, I actually meant to play Santon RWB because I believe that's where he started isn't it?

Maybe we should try to sign Sol Campbell on a short term deal(till January would be good).

  15. No, it's not all about height. Santon can help defend set plays with his height and also try to win things from goal kicks, while Simmo covers his fullback position, but when the ball is in open play, Simmo would be better for CB IMO.

Santon is built to be a fullback not a CB. At least Simmo has good balance and strength, and even though he does back off at times, he's got good tackling ability.

    No.

You can't just change from 442 to 343 in a week, it needs hard training and practice on the pitch.

    I would go for

    RB: Santon
    CB: Simmo
    CB: Perch
    LB: Raylor

As Brownrob said. I just hope Tiote and Coloccini are back soon.

    Raylor Kadar Simmo Santon

  18. No to Kadar. Perch isn't very good, but Kadar has rarely ever played with the first team. The last time he played I believe was the Carling cup game vs Arsenal when we lost 4-0.

I'm not blaming him for that defeat, I'm just saying, to ask the lad to cope with that immense pressure after being away from first team action for over a year is really too much of an ask.

Perch wasn't awful vs Chelsea. He couldn't cope with them at times, but we wont be playing sides like Chelsea every week.

    Perch for me.

It's not just set plays that are the problem, if the opponents play high balls then Simpson has very little chance of beating 6'2 Steve Morison to them.
Obviously height isn't the only thing that matters, but it does play a large part. If Simpson otherwise was excellent at defending then maybe he'd be an option, but he's not.
We're ****ed either way, but I think we'd probably be slightly less ****ed with Santon there than Simpson.
