Sport Republic are clearly hoping to avoid sacking Martin and having to pay out his contract. They’re simply waiting for Real Madrid or PSG to come in for him.

I think this could be the first season in living memory that I haven’t attended a game. Sad.

This season is shaping up to be the most I've attended in many years bizarrely. All bar one home game so far and 5 aways (7 by month's end).

I’m with you on that. Any game outside of the North West means taking a whole day out of a weekend at least, and I did this frequently in the past. Crap 0-0 draw at home to Rotherham, pathetic 3-0 home defeat to WBA, not mention a Friday night travelling to see that totemic 0-9. Definitely low points , but more than balanced by, among other highlights, 6-3 against United, or going back in time beating Palace to set up our Cup Final.

Suddenly re-painting the bathroom seems more attractive. I hate watching football on tv but that’s what I’m now doing, and realise that it’s not that we play crap football - it’s better to watch if less effective than the dross served up by the ale house brawlers - but rather the realisation that we’re going to lose and almost certainly will contribute to the defeat with school boy errors and an inability to create anything. Part of the excitement of match day was not knowing what would happen. Now we do.

Me too....we used to come down as a family group. a few times each season, tickets, hotels food etc it wasn't cheap but we loved it. Now however it's lost it appeal, boring tactics, inevitable loss, no goalmouth excitement in the opposition penalty area. We want our Saints back!

What infuriates me is that virtually everyone on here (I can really on think of one who has recently disagreed) have the same opinion & about virtually all issues. And this seems to be a very level headed, no knee jerk posters board. I truly don’t understand what SR are doing nor trying to achieve. Unless we win Sunday, it’s going to become very angry & actually embarrassing at SMS. How sad, truly sad for this football club & in reality, so easy to fix, from RM’s position (albeit a significant tactical tweak) & also SR’s.

He won’t have a better chance at winning this game than he does on Sunday due to the injuries spurs currently have.
    GK- Vicario (1st Choice)
CB- Romero & Van De Ven (Both 1st Choice)
Davies (Been Back up to Above CB’s)
MF- Bissouma & Bentancur (Both 1st Choice)
    FW- Richarlison & Moore
And they still have a game away to Rangers tonight

We will start well but concede from some stupid error about 10 mins in. The goal will be slightly controversial due to a ref decision and Martin will point to that as why we lost, ignoring the fact we conceded another 5 during the rest of the game. Say the players were brave and he’s proud of how they reacted after such an awful decision from the ref and we would’ve done better defensively if Stephens was playing

The fans cheered when we got a corner, which led directly to their 5th goal.

I've been a bit of a d**khead on here and an annoying wally, continually making the same silly jokes about 'being brave' and 'passing' back and forth and I should quite rightly get some stick, so it is to everyone's credit that I haven't and also a sad state of affairs that no one has either - currently the situation with Southampton makes my childishness about the state of the club 'normal'.

But it is getting boring even for me and I am pretty sure I don't care anymore - apathy is the worst thing you can do to fans/supporters. I mean loving the club, getting angry, or incensed, means there is some emotion - not caring less means you are more or less dead inside.

That is unforgivable and as far as I can tell from this and a few other forums it appears to be a common mood.

Can't remember a large swath of supporters feeling like that ever (since 1970).

Agree. I’ve been delving into my memories of supporting this club (1958 - ?) and you’re right. Supporting a club in Third Division South was never going to be a joyride but this was my town, my club.

I look back at the game at Nottingham Forest when we were already relegated to Division One and facing possible extinction. We were buzzing. Gallows humour, of course, but we were proud of our club.

During the Division One and Championship seasons that followed friends who followed United, City, Liverpool et al would comment on results. Now they avoid talking about football. It’s just embarrassing. As one said to me recently, ‘I can’t even take the piss, mate’
