That's my worry. I just don't see the current fit wingers and strikers being able to do it with the exception of maybe Longman who can run all day and has a decent shot on him. Ruben loves a through ball on to a striker who plays on the shoulder, who is that? Bedia and Pedro both slow, Burstow hasn't convinced me he's got the ability to put chances like that away yet.
If that’s the case, maybe he’ll give Burstow a go. He hasn’t had much of a chance playing in a striking role and looks like he’s got a bit about him if he gets the right service.
Yep. 13 without a win, and 1 win and 3 draws in our final 20 games saw us fall from 8th to 24th. Absolutely dreadful
Of the three of them Burstow is the most likely of the strikers to succeed playing that style. Unless he brings in Sellars-Fleming which would be a massive call.
Said something about us 'seeing the rotation tomorrow night' in his presser and I wondered if he meant Burstow.
Ex Leeds United and former Scotland midfield player...Played for Leeds under Revie in early 1960s to about 1966. Think he came to City as a number two. Became caretaker boss, then got promoted to top job after winning at least first 6 games. Lost next 7 games and got the tintack. PS......Oddly, weirdly looking forward to tonight. Not sure why. Signs of insanity, I guess.
Despite Walter being in charge for 20 games some of the players were still indoctrinated with Rosie ball (ALLEGEDLY) think it will take more than a couple of days on the training ground to get them up to speed with yet another new philosophy.
I think Bedia has the pace for that, and he does like to run in behind, but it's what he does when he gets it that's the issue. He easily gets himself faced away from goal and he won't shoot at all if it's on his right side. But in any case, what manager doesn't like a striker being played in behind? That's surely one of the most ideal situations anyone could hope for. The issue is producing it!
I think Palmer might be the man for the through balls, and Burstow to get on the end of them. Getting excited now...
Or we go for it and play two up front? If we can’t score then, maybe it is the strikers. But I do think the strikers have had poor service this season - whether that’s down to one up front or just the style, I don’t know. I’d love it if we went two up top (as I mention every week). I’d be as happy as Kevin Keegan if we did. Which by the way, did he ever win that game from the famous quote? Just curious.
But but but ...that means hoofball (so some insisted without understanding there's actually plenty of scope in-between the 2 extremes .... as we'll hopefully now see).
